What To Expect

1

Kazimierz Jewish Quarter Enter Kazimierz, one of Kraków’s most evocative neighborhoods. Once a vibrant center of Jewish life, it now reflects centuries of faith, tradition, and close-knit community. Walk its atmospheric streets, pass historic synagogues, and discover a place where Jewish and Christian cultures developed side by side. The tour begins on Szeroka Street, the historic heart of Kazimierz, framed by synagogues and townhouses dating back to the 16th–18th centuries. You will see the Old Synagogue, the oldest preserved synagogue in Poland, today a museum of Jewish history. The route continues past the Remuh Synagogue and Cemetery, one of the most important Jewish religious sites in the country. You will also pass the Kupa Synagogue, once serving the poorest residents, and the Tempel Synagogue, now an active center of cultural life. This walking tour captures the spirit of Kazimierz — a district where traces of everyday life, prayer, and resilience are still present.

Fabryka Emalia Oskara Schindlera

Visit Schindler’s Enamel Factory, today one of Kraków’s most visited and moving museums, and step into the story of a man whose actions made history. With a licensed expert guide, you’ll explore the acclaimed exhibition “Kraków under Nazi Occupation 1939–1945” through the lens of Oskar Schindler’s extraordinary life. This is the place where Schindler employed Jewish workers and used his position, influence, and resources to protect them from deportation. More than a thousand men and women survived thanks to his courage and determination. As you walk through the exibition, your guide will bring to life the stories of those he saved, often called “Schindlerjuden,” whose testimony continues to resonate across generations. Photographs, personal objects, and reconstructed streets show the fear, uncertainty, and daily struggles faced by the city’s inhabitants. Within this backdrop of oppression, Schindler’s story emerges as one of humanity and hope.

  • Good overview walking tour

This was a good overview walking tour of the Jewish Quarter in Krakow. The guide took us to the main attractions and discussed them. The style was a bit mechanical. For the Schindler's Museum I would not do a guide. The museum is really comprehensive. You could spend at least a half day there. Because of the time limit on the guided portion I felt we were rushed. This is not the guide's fault. It is more of a preference of how I would do the museum.

A superb tour of the Old Jewish Quarter in Krakow and a fascinating tour of the Oskar Schindler Museum. Both were booked through Viator and were well managed from start to finish. The Tour Guide was friendly and informative and spoke very good English. Regretfully neither Viator not the Tour Guide could pre-arrange the weather but the day was not a waste of time and it did not dampen our spirits.

  • WWII Tour NOT Schindler’s Factory

This tour is a great choice if you’re looking for historical insight into World War II from Poland’s perspective, particularly regarding the Jewish population in Krakow. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I especially appreciated how she repeated key facts—it really helped the information stick, especially for the kids. However, I rated this tour 3 stars because of a bait-and-switch by the tour company. Despite being advertised as a tour of Schindler’s Factory, it is not. The actual factory was taken over by the state and now functions as an art museum, which is not included in the tour. Schindler had liquidated the factory before leaving, and today, only one pot and his administrative office remain. What this tour actually covers is the administrative side of the factory, which has been converted into a World War II museum.

  • A Fine Tour Light on Schindler

Fascinating look at Jewish life in Krakow before and after World War II. Unlike in Warsaw, much of the old Jewish quarter physically survives. The guide was excellent. However, the Schindler tour was a disappointment. The Schindler museum was really focused on Krakow and the Jews during World War II with relatively little to do with Schindler and his factory.

Signing up for this tour is a great way to get to see historic points of interest and skip the (very long) line at the Schindler museum. The people of Krakow have done a magnificent job of cultivating an experience that walks you through the tragic days from the Nazi invasion through liberation. Do not miss this tour, it is worth every minute!

Our tour guide Margaret was brilliant. Her local knowledge and personal experience of life in Poland was fascinating. Thoroughly recommend this tour. The Schindler factory tour was not what I expected but we enjoyed it regardless.

We went on a tour with Helena to the Jewish Quarter and the Shindlers factory we were hooked! So much so we stayed another hour to explore the Ghetto with her…. Her passion to educate around the despair and devastation for all involved in the time of the Nazi occupation made it emotional for us, we thought we knew most of what happened here… oh how wrong we were! So much to learn in this trip about Poland, Jewish faith, beautiful buildings, story’s both devastating and inspiring, Thankyou Helena for such an detailed and informative insightful tour, we would recommend you book this tour!!

A great opportunity to learn about the history of the Jewish people in Krakow. I wish I had more time to explore the individual synagogues but our tour guide Filipe was very helpful in sharing images about how the area used to look and even some images of shots filmed during Schindler's List, even sharing that Spielberg made some "creative" decisions around location. The Schindler museum was great as well and told a larger story of the Holocaust beyond just Schindler.

Strolling through Kazimierz’s vibrant streets gives you a glimpse into its rich Jewish history, while the Schindler’s Factory Museum takes you on an emotional journey through Kraków during WWII. This tour is both thought-provoking and memorable, weaving culture and history into a truly unforgettable experience.
