The bicycle tour with NiceGuide.nl in Maastricht, which we had booked well in advance, took place on the afternoon of 23 May. After meeting our guide, Lysianne, in front of the railway station, we set off to explore the city. It was a warm day, but cycling provided a pleasantly refreshing breeze along the way. Lysianne was exceptionally knowledgeable about Maastricht’s many historic hotspots and shared fascinating insights into their significance, both in the past and in the city's rich cultural life today. Our journey began with the Romans, who recognized the strategic importance of this location and established a garrison settlement here. We learned how Maastricht expanded over the centuries with the construction of city walls and developed into an important center for religious life, home to numerous churches and monasteries. Part of the tour involved cycling uphill, which was a little strenuous for a group of sporty seventy-plus participants, but our efforts were handsomely rewarded with a generous serving of delicious ice cream. Everywhere we went, the city was bustling with people enjoying themselves, gathering socially, and embracing the good things in life. All in all, it was a remarkable and memorable tour, made truly special by our lovely and outstanding guide, Lysianne. If you are planning a visit to Maastricht, don't miss this experience. Highly recommended!

We had such a fun time. Peter was an excellent guide full of trivia from history to random fun facts, To the Austin scene. I am a cyclist and my daughter is not so I felt this was a easy ride for her and we greatly enjoyed seeing the beautiful areas downtown.

I wish the tour had more ‘street’ ride to see the town. It was isolated at certain parts of the ride. And going through neighborhood I will never want to see or know about because I will not be interested in going back to that part of town. I would have liked to see more landmarks to make me want to go back another day to explore. Secondly, the path was very busy so I was so busy navigating through pedestrians to enjoy and appreciate the beauty of the trail. But Toby was very engaging and great tour guide.

So fun! I was a little hesitant to get on a bike for the first time in decades! This was great, I will do it again and again. Peter was the best, great teacher and knew a lot about Austin. This was a super fun way to spend our first day in Texas!

Pete is a fantastic tour guide. He started with biking tips and mixed in history and humor throughout the ride. We learned a lot and had a blast!
