Live a day as a researcher with the scientists of MareTerra NGO. All your curiosities about dolphins will be satisfied. Observe the researchers as they collect scientific data to study the bottlenose dolphin population of the Gulf of Alghero. Discover the stories of some of the most famous dolphins like Suzeo, Taz or Shark Junior.
During snorkelling, you'll have a guide who will take you to discover underwater life. On board, we'll tell you some curiosities about what we have seen. You will never be alone!
Our excursions are inspired by the principles of ecotourism and sustainability:
- Latest generation boat engines reduce fuel consumption and reduce the emission of noise underwater.
- HQWW certification (High Quality Whale Watching) for whale watching operators complying with the Code of Good Conduct. This serves to reduce and minimize the disturbance of cetaceans.
- Environmental education on board.
- By joining Progetto Natura, you can support MareTerra NGO and its scientific research and conservation projects.

This tour is suitable for kids from 5 years old.
Suitable sea conditions and a minimum number of people are required for this experience. In case of cancellation, you will be able to choose another date if available or a full refund. Other causes that may occasionally lead to cancellation of the tour are mechanical failures, health problems and requests for monitoring intervention for the protection of cetaceans that cannot be postponed and conflict with the date of the tour.
The guides reserve the right to end the excursion early if it is not possible to guarantee the safety of the people on board or to respect the established program due to weather and sea conditions. The cost of the ticket could be reduced in case of early termination of the excursion.

All persons who appear at the meeting point with a Reservation and are not eligible to participate in the activity, as indicated in the above points, will not be entitled to a refund. The company assumes no responsibility for any health problems if participants board without having communicated an unsuitable condition that is not visible or immediately recognizable to the staff.
"MareTerra Group SNC Disclaimer Statement". Activities that take place in the natural environment inevitably involve risks. To minimise this risk, personnel are adequately trained and the vehicles and equipment used are subject to routine and extraordinary maintenance when required. However, by participating in our excursions the Participant(s): 1) Declares under his/her own responsibility to be in good health and to exempt MareTerra Group SNC from any civil or criminal liability relating to and consequent to the assessment of such status. 2) He undertakes to behave in accordance with the principles of legality and respect for the principles of civility during the excursion and not to engage, in any case, in conduct contrary to the law and civil regulations that may endanger his own or the safety of others. 3) Indemnifies MareTerra Group SNC from any liability, direct or indirect, for any material or non-material damage, theft and/or damage to any personal object and/or expenses (including legal fees), which may arise as a result of participation in the excursion, also as a result of their own or others' behavior. 4) Finally, by proceeding with the Reservation, you accept the terms and conditions and assume all responsibility that may arise from participation in the excursion and release MareTerra Group SNC from any civil and criminal liability, even objective, as a result of injuries caused to yourself or to third parties and illnesses that occurred during the entire duration of the excursion, including transfers by any means to and from the place of the excursion. 5) Pursuant to and for the purposes of Articles 1341 and 1342 of the Italian Civil Code, the Participant(s) declares that they have carefully examined all the clauses contained in this information and specifically approve all the points listed by proceeding with the Reservation.
What To Expect
If you are a sea lover don't let the less warm temperature stop your curiosity! For three hours, we search for dolphins. Thanks to the presence of the researcher of MareTerra NGO, our chance of spotting dolphins is 80%. During the navigation, a briefing will be provided to let you know more about the biology and behaviour of dolphins, along with their conservation status. We are certified with the High Quality Whale Watching certification. Once we sighted a group of dolphins, we respect their well-being approaching them in accordance with the "good code of conduct" of our certification to minimise the risk of any disturbance to dolphins. Thanks to the photo-identification technique, we can recognise dolphins by their dorsal fins and we are able to tell you their names, how old they are and their health status. In addition, you will listen to the dolphin sounds thanks to the recordings that the scientists of MareTerra NGO collected to study the bioacoustic of the dolphins. During the navigation, you will admire one of the most beautiful coasts of Sardinia, within the boundaries of the Marine Protected Area Capo Caccia - Isola Piana.

5.00Finally, a dolphin tour that pays attention to not disturb the species unnecessarily. I was impressed by the information provided and the enthusiasm of the tour guides. We were able to participate in data collection and observe a dolphin in its natural habitat. Simply magnificent. 5.00This tour was a great way to spend 3 sunny hours in late May. Francesco, Guillermo and the rest of the crew gave us lots of information and tried their best to find Dolphins for us to see and for them to study. We only got to see 2 Dolphins but we got good sightings of them, always remember wildlife can be unpredictable so there's a lot of luck involved. The boats are well maintained and clean, there is no water supplied so make sure to bring some. The fee for the tour goes to help fund research so by taking this tour you are helping to give the Dolphins abetter chace to live longer and better lives.

5.00Unfortunately, we were not lucky enough to see dolphins on 25.04.2026, and yet we would book the tour the same way again. We had a great trip with lots of interesting information about dolphins and their way of life. The information was backed up by pictures and recordings, which was very interesting. At the meeting point we stood on the wrong side of the road 🙈 , but this was no problem either. Fabio called me and we cleared up the misunderstanding. Everything totally easy🥰 thank you, Fabio 😊 On the way back we were allowed to admire Alghero from the sea and also feel the horsepower of the boat 😂 We can highly recommend this tour. Thanks to Fabio and Francesco. 👍😊

5.00We were hoping to see the dolphins but first encountered a fin whale. Only a small one (14m) but longer than our boat, just wandering around feeding. Took no notice of us and apparently quite rare in this area. Then we found the dolphins, several in each group, lots of young with their mother. Altogether an amazing few hours, well worth it and hopefully a small contribution to the research.
