What To Expect

Your Mad Desert Trekking guide will meet you in the near the trailhead, and hike with you on an amazing route into the Phoenix Mountains. Experience the incredible mountain up close and personal. Ascend the switchbacks for incredible views of the Valley of the Sun, Phoenix, Scottsdale and Camelback Mountain. Hike to a mountain saddle for a perfect view of Piestawa Peak and the surrounding desert mountain range. See the Sonoran Desert stretch out for more than 40 miles to the west. 5.00I just returned from the sunset hike with Michael. WOW! It was amazing! It exceeded my expectation's. Michael was super knowledgeable about the terrain, cactus and history. I would do this again! He made it very special and fun. He even took pictures! Thank you.

5.00Our guide, Doug, was awesome. He was so knowledgeable about the plants, landscape and animals. He was very approachable and friendly and answered any questions we had. It was only my mum and I, and I was worried it may be a bit awkward but conversation flowed freely and it was just like chatting with a friend. 100% recommend!!

5.00Bella was my guide. We hiked the Ocotillo Trail. She was an amazing guide. She shared her knowledge of the plants, the area and her passion for nature and adventure was infectious. I felt extremely comfortable hiking with her. I wanted to hike but didn’t feel comfortable navigating the trails alone. She was a wonderful leader and made sure we took breaks to drink water and provided light snacks. She offered to wait for me to get my ride out of the park. I highly recommend hiking with Bella.

5.00What a great intro to hiking in the desert! It was just my husband and myself with our guide, Jason. He was knowledgeable, had everything we needed (water, sunscreen, snacks) and made the hike very interesting. I would highly recommend if you are a newby to hiking in the desert !
