As well as the Ancient highlights like the Parthenon, you will draw on the local knowledge of our guide who will highlight innumerable gems from 1000 year old Byzantine churches to Roman Bath Houses, hidden local cafes and small delights that would otherwise be missed by large group impersonal tours.
Flexible options also allow for extending your tour to other major sites, and a luxury Vehicle option allows for those less mobile and who prefer a hassle-free 'door to door' pickup from Hotel or Cruise Port.

What To Expect
Athens
MEETING OUR GUIDE. Your guide will be waiting at 7 Makrygianni Street at the Acropolis Metro stop which is just around the corner from the Acropolis Main Entrance. Our meeting spot provides an ideal perspective from which to view the surrounding wall of the Acropolis built by the earlier Mycenean civilisation and to provide you with an introduction to the History of the Acropolis, its importance and role in the life of ancient Greece, and an overview of the temples & amazing monuments you are about to see. VEHICLE OPTION: If choosing this option your driver will be at your Cruise ship disembarkation point, Hotel Reception or other Athens Address (please provide this after booking)
Acropolis
THE ACROPOLIS AND ALL ITS TEMPLES AND MONUMENTS. Our day starts with the Acropolis, focus of life in Ancient Athens & surrounded by its amazing cyclopean' wall, ' built by the Myceneans thousands of years ago. The Acropolis is home to the Parthenon, but also many other amazing monuments. You will first enter through the giant ‘Propylaia’ behind which once stood a gold encrusted statue of the Goddess Athena. You will also see the Temple of Athena Nike (or 'Viktory') from 420 BC before other important sites such as the mythical Erechtheion, unique in its construction with its iconic statues of the Caryatids, and the World’s oldest Theatre of Dionysus from the 6th Century BC, which would have seen the very first performances of ancient plays by Sophocles and Euripides among others. The impressive & fully renovated Roman theater, Herodius Atticus, completed in AD 161, also in the site, was dedicated to the wife of a rich benefactor and still hosts a vibrant public summer program.

5.00We had an amazing all day tour to the Acropolis and Temple of Posideon with private tour guides and lunch. It was an amazing day! Our driver Petros took us to a couple other areas and even had us stop to grab a coffee before our long drive out to the Temple. Great information, easy to work with, lunch was so good and fresh. 10/10 recommend!! Hot tip : have them pre purchase your tickets, it made the whole day flow much easier

5.00Alex our driver and guide was fantastic, super helpful and very attentive. He met us at the cruise port right on time, answered all questions, even the silly ones and was so eager to share his knowledge of Athens, the sights and history. We saw so many sights, beat the bulk of the lines at the Acropolis and Acropolis Museum and then had a lovely and super tasty lunch at a little coastal restaurant near Poseidon's Temple. If you want to make the most of a day in Athens, this tour will make that happen.

5.00We had one full day to see all the important sites in Athens and this was the way to go! Andreas was professional, interesting, educated, and we got a real sense of day to day life in Athens, not to mention a good historical perspective. He drove safely in a beautiful comfortable car, stopped for lunch at a place he spent his youth near, and was prompt and responsive to any other questions or times we wanted to stop for a viewpoint. I misunderstood the quality and dollar amount "stipend" that lunch included, I would have tried more things on the menu. Also it appeared that this was a place that a bus tour could and did stop, and we would have appreciated and paid for something more private and upscale. Nevertheless, it was a great sunny day and wonderful way to see Athens. Good communication before the excursion also, which always helps. Would recommend!

4.00This was a great way to see Athens, and our driver, Alex was very friendly and knowledgeable. He gave us great history before each stop. Betty was the private guide at the Acropolis and she was fantastic!! But the drive to Sounion was too much. 4.5 hours extra in the car just to see Poseidon didn’t seem necessary, after doing it. That’s no one’s fault. , but it was a lot of boring time driving home with nothing to see.

5.00Great way to see Athens highlights in a day. Alex was our driver and provided great history and facts as we approached each site. Betty was our private guide at the Acropolis and Museum, and was also incredibly knowledgeable, had wonderful graphics with her and kept us moving around the crowds. I highly recommend going first thing in the morning to avoid the larger cruise ship crowds, if you’re able (we had a 7:30am pickup for the 8am opening and it was perfect). We enjoyed the changing of the guard and other stops around Athens, the headed down the coast for lunch in Sounion and visiting the Temple of Poseidon. It was stunning! Just be prepared for 4+ hours in the car, round trip, if you add this on. It was a gorgeous day for it though.
