What To Expect
We begin before sunrise, paddling across the still, mirror-like waters of the Bacalar lagoon as the first light slowly paints the sky. Our route takes us toward the famous Canal de los Piratas — a narrow, shallow passage with crystal-clear water and soft white sand beneath your board. This historic canal was once used by pirates and traders navigating through the lagoon system, making it not just beautiful, but full of stories. As you glide inside the canal, surrounded by mangroves and silence, it feels like entering a hidden world — calm, untouched, and slightly mysterious. We continue through the canal until we reach Laguna Mariscal, a more secluded and wild part of the lagoon, far from the usual routes. Here, the water opens up again, reflecting the sky in soft colors as the sun rises. We enjoy a fresh breakfast right by the water, in complete tranquility — no crowds, just nature. You’ll have time to swim, float, or simply sit and take in the moment as the lagoon slowly wakes up around you. Afterwards, we explore the area a bit more before gently paddling back, carrying that calm energy with us. Throughout the experience, your guide captures GoPro photos

5.00Sunrise paddle boarding on the lagoon with Elahe was one of my favorite experiences in Bacalar. The scenery is breathtaking. She is a very experienced and knowledgeable guide who creates a fun and relaxing experience. Coffee and breakfast in the blue waters of the pirate channel is not be to be missed.

I can’t fully describe how magical and unique the energy of the Bacalar Lagoon feels at sunrise—it’s something you have to experience. And sharing this moment with Eli, who is an incredibly professional, experienced, and kind guide, made it even more special. 5.00The guys at Amarbacalar organized a sunrise paddleboard/kayak tour for us on the Bacalar lagoon with Ellie, and it’s been an unforgettable experience. Ellie is absolutely lovely: she has guided us through the lagoon at a peaceful pace and even prepared an incredible breakfast for us. Enjoying breakfast on a paddleboard in the middle of the Pirates’ Channel is something I’d recommend to anyone visiting Bacalar. It’s truly a one-of-a-kind experience. 5 stars and highly recommended!!!

5.00I joined Eli’s sunrise paddle from Lake Bacalar through Pirate’s Channel to Lagoon Marisca, and it ended up being a really special morning. I was basically new to paddle boarding, but Eli adjusted the pace the whole time so I felt comfortable and actually confident pretty quickly. We were out for about 3.5 hours, with a simple but amazing breakfast right on the boards—fresh fruit, toast, Nutella, and her homemade carrot jam with walnuts, which was super delicious. After that we paddled on and stopped for a swim at the ecological park, and I even got to try a bit of Janzu water therapy with her. It’s a gentle, meditative practice where you’re guided and moved through the water—it felt deeply relaxing, almost like a mix of meditation and floating massage. If you’re open to that kind of experience, you can also book a full session with Eli, which I can imagine would be really special. What made it stand out most though was Eli herself—she has a super kind, calm, and strong presence that makes the whole experience feel easy and genuine. Definitely worth waking up early for.

5.00This experience was amazing. Huge thanks to Eli — she’s the best! Breakfast, coffee, and the toast were all great, and we got to enjoy a truly unforgettable sunrise with her. The whole vibe was super relaxed and well organized. If you’re going to Bacalar or anywhere nearby, don’t miss this tour. Totally worth it.
