[Wamodern Experience] Hand-Sized Mini Bonsai Creation and Tea Ceremony at a Hidden Sumida River Atelier
Tucked away in an alley along the lively Sumida River is a hidden gem of an atelier. Why not casually experience the beauty of Japanese tradition in this comfortable, Wamodern space?
In this workshop, you will craft a palm-sized faux bonsai that is perfect for accompanying you on your travels. You will carefully assemble colorful dried flowers and fresh-looking faux moss using hot glue. The finished piece is highly durable, making it ideal for home décor or a special gift for a loved one.
During breaks in your creation, traditional Japanese tea and seasonal wagashi will be served. Indulge in a moment that satisfies all five senses in a relaxed atmosphere. Since it is a small-group setting of up to [Insert Max Number] people, the instructor will provide meticulous, hands-on support even for first-timers. Guests who make reservations with proposed dates from their requests will have a smoother experience. (Please note that if the payment is not completed, it will be considered a cancellation.) Due to work circumstances, it may be difficult to set up, so we appreciate your understanding. Our small atelier, previously located in Shintomicho, has moved to a charming alley near the Sumida River with old-town flair since March of this year. It is a 2-minute walk from Hamacho Station on the Toei Shinjuku Line, a 10-minute walk from Ningyocho Station on the Hibiya Line, and a 7-minute walk from Suitengumae Station on the Hanzomon Line. Why not enjoy the atmosphere and experience a convenient-to-take-home bonsai-style arrangement? The experience takes place in our small atelier. First, we welcome you with tea and traditional Japanese sweets. After a short break and relaxation, we explain how to create the bonsai arrangement. The materials include faux moss and dried flowers. You'll create a palm-sized bonsai-style object. We use hot glue to secure the pieces, making it durable. Since it is a fake bonsai, you can take it abroad!

Everything was prepared and also the teacher can help you make a nice design! I think this is also a great gift to bring back home as you can’t really bring real bonsai plants through immigration, it is a cool alternative and also something you can be proud of making!

I had a wonderful time at this bonsai workshop! The sensei was incredibly kind and patient, guiding us through each step with great care. What I really loved was the variety of choices available—we could select different trees, pots, and styles to truly create our own unique bonsai. It was such a pleasant and authentic Japanese cultural experience. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing, and I found myself completely focused and immersed in the process, which made it even more special. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience a traditional side of Japan in a hands-on and meaningful way! 🌿
