Located about 15 minutes from Moab, Bow and Arrow Canyon offers a unique blend of scenery and adventure in a short, approachable canyoneering route. With minimal elevation gain and limited technical difficulty, it’s an ideal outing for families and those new to canyoneering who still want a true canyon experience. The canyon’s scenic highlights include views of Longbow Arch, ancient rock art left behind by the canyon’s original inhabitants at the Polka Dot Petroglyph, and sweeping views of the Behind the Rocks area. Despite its easy overall difficulty, the route delivers plenty of excitement, featuring four rappels along the way — including a dramatic 120-foot free-hanging rappel, the highlight of the canyon. The 3-mile round-trip hike is relatively flat and easy to navigate, with no tight slot sections or complex technical challenges. Most groups complete the adventure in just a few hours, making Bow and Arrow Canyon a perfect short-and-sweet canyoneering experience that balances accessibility, scenery, and adventure.

It’s a good hike so having good physical strength and endurance is important. The repels are challenging and a lot of fun.
