What To Expect

You will see the wall art of west Belfast murals the peace wall and some memorial gardens
Shankill Road
Your Belfast Murals Tour begins in the Shankill Road area of Belfast which is (Protestant/British), where your Black Taxi Cab driver will explain a detailed history of the area. We begin in 1690, when William of orange arrived in Ireland to defeat King James the 2nd at the famous Battle Of The Boyne. There will then be an explanation about the recent troubles, which started in 1969 and ended when the peace agreement was signed in 1998. You will go for a short walk around the area, where your black taxi cab driver will explain the loyalist murals Belfast has in the area and what they represent. You will have the opportunity to take your own photographs of the Belfast murals.

5.00One of the driving forces behind the British Isles cruise we chose to go on with our friends was having a stop in Belfast. We all agreed that learning about The Troubles was of paramount importance, and thus arranged this private tour. We actually contracted for more time - think it was around 5 hours and it was not too long at that! We can't thank Brian enough for his thoughtful, articulate description of such an important part of history that one should be informed about. Certainly we saw many of the lasting effects of The Troubles. Certainly adding to the impact of the tour was the fact that it was led by someone who had lived The Troubles, Brian. We all felt it was a non-biased presentation of facts. I remember him saying that it wasn't like one side did everything right and the other side did everything wrong - that's not the way it was. Our entire cruise was the trip of a lifetime - this tour was my single most important experience on it. Thank you, Brian!

5.00Our group of four were met by our guide Danny at our requested pickup spot, a few minutes ahead of time. The van was roomy, clean and very comfortable. Communications at the time of booking with the company were polite and efficient. Danny introduced us to the sites of the historical and ongoing conflicts and violence in Belfast. We had some knowledge of the Troubles beforehand, but it becomes very real when you listen to someone who has lived through it and see the many gates, memorials and murals. We definitely gained some understanding of the great challenges of ever achieving a lasting peace. I can’t recommend Danny and his company highly enough.

5.00Great tour with Stevie Mac, took a minute to ask what we wanted from the tour and made a point of tailoring his commentary, which genuinely felt more like a conversation, accordingly. We wanted to understand how the history affected the present and how that compares to over the water, as such our questions, whilst coming from a place of inquisitiveness, were clumsy at points. Steve managed them really well, didn’t seem offended, and didn’t leave me feeling daft. We’ll be back to the follow-up Stevie, B&S, Manchester

5.00We had a Black Taxi Tour with Stevie and can honestly say it was one of the highlights of our visit to Belfast. The tour was a real eye-opener to the reality of what happened during The Troubles and how it still influences daily life for many people today. Stevie delivered the history and stories superbly, giving a balanced and respectful insight into both sides of the wall without bias. He was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and happy to answer any questions we had. You could tell he genuinely cared about sharing Belfast's history and helping visitors understand the city's past and present. A great chap, very approachable, and an excellent guide. 5.00What a fabulous tour with Brian, he collected us from the cruise port and everything about the tour was outstanding. Brian was very knowledgeable and passionate, he gave us a lot of information and left us feeling amazed and emotional about what he and others had lived through. Plenty of stops and opportunities for photos. Highly recommend Brian and his tour. Not to be missed!!
