As we are heading towards higher altitude, our body needs to adapt to the Himalayan atmosphere and climate. So, we let our bodies acclimatize with the mountain environment. Thankfully, Namche has many things to explore since it's the capital of the Everest region and home of the sherpas. On this day, we will hike to Everest View Point, and later we will explore the Everest View Hotel. This hotel is regarded as the highest star hotel in the world, which lies in a 3880m altitude. The moment will be so precious when we will take our coffee/tea and Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and numerous mountains will be in front of us to cheer us. Many other beautiful mountains like Thamserku, Kongde, Kusum Kanguru, and Nuptse can be easily explored from this place. Short visit to the Sherpa museum to learn more about the vibrant Sherpa culture and tradition. The National Park museum offers information about Everest and related mountains, which lies just near the Sherpa Museum.

Tengboche
Today's route is regarded as the most scenic day for the entire trek. This day will be the combination of the amazing sight of sky-touching mountains, small villages, stupas, monasteries, rhododendron flowers, pine forest and sometimes we might encounter rare animals. Our trek will continue along the glacial water of Dudhkoshi including the majestic view of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam from most of the parts. The beginning of the trek will be quite easy and the trail is straight and wider for 1 and a half hours. Then, we need to descend to the level of Imja Khola and we will sit for lunch near the river lodges. Before reaching Tengboche village, there will be another big uphill trail to hike. Our today's destination lies in between the two rivers which are spiritually famous as well. Tengboche monastery is one of the most famous, biggest, and ancient monasteries in the Khumbu region.

Dingboche
Early morning view of Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and the tip of the Everest on Nuptse range gives a warm morning vibe to us. Tasty breakfast at Tengboche refuel our body then we will descend slightly until a small village called Debuche, which is covered with pine and rhododendron forest. The trail continues along the moraine of Khumbu glacier and passes by stone memorials for the sherpas and climbers deceased on different mountain expeditions. We will cross another suspension bridge over Imja Khola before reaching Pangboche village, another biggest Sherpa settlement in the Khumbu region. The more we climb, mani walls, prayer flags, stone walls, chortens, and small stupas are so visible and found abundantly.

Since the village is located at 4400m altitude, we need proper rest and take care, so that we can easily adopt the more altitude. This is also a memorable place, where Tenzing Norge and Sir Edmund Hillary step their first feet during their Everest summit mission.
Standard Guest House
From this day, the trekking grade becomes moderate to difficult because of higher altitude. The level of oxygen in the air becomes lower and we might feel more tired. We will pass through the windy pastureland of Yaks with gradual uphill and Sloopy landscapes that lie on the soldiers of Pheriche. The terrain will become totally different than in previous days. On the way, Tawache, Cholatse, Lobuche peak along with Ama Dablam view can be explored closely. Lunch camp will be on the bank of Khumbu glacier and after than 1hr direct hiking will take us to the sherpa memorial called Thukla pass 4800m. Here we will find the stone-made memorial dedicated to all the Sherpas and climbers who lost their lives in different expeditions of nearby mountains. The remaining trail will be almost straight until Lobuche but the mountain terrain will be rocky, sometimes melted snow is also available.

Gorak Shep
This is a big day for all the trekking enthusiasm who dreamed to trek to the base of the world’s highest mountain. The initial trek will be comparatively easy, as we don’t need to climb much uphill until Gorakshep. The trail will be rocky and craggy and walking along the Khumbu glacier until Base Camp. Almost, a 3hour hike takes us to the stunning small village above 5,000m and we will take rest for a few times including lunch before resuming our hike to base camp.
Standard Guest House
This will be another beautiful day and the most important day to watch the panoramic view of breathtaking mountains. We will wake up at 3-4 am in the morning and a 3hour trail uphill climb takes us to the summit of the Kalapatthar. Kalapatther means the mountain made by black rocks and this is the highest altitude (5,545m) we will climb in our entire trek. Kalapatthar is one of the most famous viewpoints for both sunset and sunrise over the world's highest point. Sunset is rare because the weather conditions during the evening in the mountains always remain foggy and covered with clouds snowfall.

We trekked with Luxury Holidays Nepal in May 2026 on a longer Everest region route: Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar, then Cho La Pass and Gokyo Lakes. It was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The itinerary was well organised, communication with Resham before the trip was clear, and the team handled all the practical details - permits, flights, accommodation, guiding and logistics - so we could focus on the trek itself. Our guide Dambar was excellent: calm, experienced, patient and very attentive to how we were coping with the altitude and the daily walking. That mattered a lot. This is not just a scenic holiday; at high altitude, good judgement and local experience really count. We always felt looked after, but never rushed or over-managed. Dambar and our porter Dez were excellent value - I highly recommend both of them. The trek itself was extraordinary. Gokyo, Cho La, Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar gave us a huge variety of landscapes and experiences, and the route was challenging in all the right ways. Cho La was an absolute highlight - more so than EBC. We are both in our 50s and had trained seriously for it, but having a good guide and a well-paced itinerary made a big difference. Dambar also handled the inevitable mountain logistics well - Lukla flights, teahouses, porters, meals and day-to-day arrangements. Everything ran smoothly, and when conditions required flexibility, the team managed it calmly. I would happily recommend Luxury Holidays Nepal to anyone planning an Everest region trek, especially if you want a locally based company, good organisation, experienced guiding, and a trek that feels safe, well supported and memorable. This was one of the best things I’ve ever done.

I don’t have enough good things to say about this company and our guide! My husband and I had an incredible trek to EBC in Nov 2025 and I’m so glad we went with Luxury Holidays. From booking months in advance, Resham was so great to work with - extremely responsive and on top of everything (which can be hard to find nowadays). The trek itself was everything we hoped for. We had perfect weather and the scenery was unreal. The best part about our trek was our guide Dambar (and our porter Tej)! They made the whole trip for us and they felt like family by the end! Dambar was always so nice, funny, and since we visited on my birthday, he made it extra special by helping us celebrate. They really went above and beyond for us daily. We definitely want to return to Nepal for more trekking in the future and we will be requesting Dambar again!

This review is coming from a deep base of experience and knowledge. Nepal is my 47th country and the EBC trek is proceeded by many other bucket list adventures on all continents. Inca trail, Kilmanjaro, Kakadu, Great Barrier Reef live aboard, etc. Blah blah blah. In many cases the actual experience doesn't meet the promises made up front. That is not the case here. This is one of the best adventures I have taken. Efficient, authentic and a great value for your dollar! Our guide, Ram, was knowledgeable, friendly and fun. EBC is not an easy undertaking, especially if you do it in 6 days. It is both challenging and beautiful, and our guide, Ram, made sure we didnt miss any interesting points along the way. I would highly recommend Luxury Holidays Nepal Pvt. Ltd. A great value, and if he is available, I would highly recommend asking for Ram as your guide!

This journey became more than just a trek to EBC…it became an imprint of amazing wonder, unfathomable beauty, emotional fulfillment, and adding family from a place that you never knew existed. Our guide, Dambar, really made this trip greater than can be imagined. He was our motivation, pacer, comic relief, evening entertainment, and ended the trip as the missing piece to something I didnt know I was missing. It made the trip of a liftetime that much more sensational. Highly recommend Dambar, the sherpas, and this company. Even through unexpected weather delays of 3 days…it made it all worth it. Thank you for the memories that will never be surpassed.

We had a great experience trekking to Everest base camp. Our guide and porter, Dambar and Naren, were very knowledgable, accommodating and attentive to our needs. (5/5) Communication with the company before the trek was challenging. After much back and forth, they eventually did make requested changes. Get clear with them about guide/porter salaries and expected additional tip money and mountain food costs before you book. (3/5) It was worth booking in off-season to avoid traffic jams on trails and tea houses. Afternoons were rainy and misty but morning views were still spectacular.

EBC has been in my bucket list for many years. I was supposed to initially come in august of 2020 and had to cancel due to COVID. We just completed EBC a few days ago and I couldn’t be happier with our experience. Our guide was Dambar and our porter was Naren. They were both amazing and I couldn’t imagine having done the trek without them. From the very beginning of the trek we felt as if we were part of their extended family. They made sure we had the best experience, really considering our needs. Dambar set a good pace and was always on the look out for wildlife or flora and geology (which my partner and I both love). It was great to learn about the history and the culture and the facts about the Himalayas. Naren, carried our 2 duffles up and down the narrow paths with such ease that most of the time he was waiting for us to catch up (with my 5lb bag lol). Then he’d ask if I needed help. Such a great experience on the EBC trek. Thank you to both of you for making out experiences so memorable.

We are nearing the end of this wonderful adventure. Our time in Kathmandu was excellent. All of our transportation ran smoothly as did our tour day in KTM. When flights weren't flying to Lukla a helicopter ride from KTM was arranged for us. That was an adventure in itself, but we were glad to begin our trek on schedule. Our guide Dembar is quiet-spoken, with the biggest smile. He is very knowledgeable about the Himalayan mountain ranges, and patient as we tried to learn mountain and village names. He is well-organized, generous and if we had a question, he either had the answer or found it out. We had the best time with him. Our porter Dej is a champ, carrying our gear up the mountain, always with a smile, even when it rained. We have been so happy with our tour and highly recommend Luxury Holidays.

I did the Everest base camp trek with heli return with Luxury Holidays and the trip was absolutely incredible. From my first arrival in Kathmandu, everything was well organized from the company from airport pickup to meeting Ram at the hotel to go over the weeks itinerary. When the weather wasn’t looking promising for a flight into Lukla, Ram organized a helicopter for us to get there from Kathmandu to stay on schedule at an incredibly reasonable price compared to what was advertised by other companies. I was initially nervous how the week was going to go because I was the only person on my trek, but that quickly went away as soon as I met my incredible guide Raj Tamang. Raj was so knowledgeable about the area and was such a cool guy- we became quick friends. The long days of hiking went by like no time at all with his great conversation about everything from Nepal culture and history, food, and just life in general. Honestly, having Raj as my guide made the trek the incredible experience it was. It want all just fun and games too- he was always looking out for me and my safety making sure I was adjusting to the altitude, drinking enough water, and making sure I took enough breaks on the hikes. I couldn’t speak more highly about Raj- he’s truly the best!! In addition, our porter Sushil was incredibly friendly and helpful and I couldn’t have done it without him! The trek had some typical Nepali hiccups along the way that were totally out of our control, namely the weather, but we were super fortunate to have a picture perfect last day making it to EBC. Getting back to Kathmandu from Lukla posed an additional challenge, as the weather was terrible again and the flights only operated very briefly to a town about 6 hrs drive from Kathmandu. Again, Ram was able to organize a helicopter back to Kathmandu to keep me on schedule so I wouldn’t miss my flight. Next time, I would recommend adding at least a couple buffer days to avoid these last minute stresses but Ram was able to come to the rescue! Overall, my EBC trek was a once in a lifetime experience. The whole team at Luxury Holidays, especially my guide Raj, made my time in Nepal truly incredible. I couldn’t recommend them enough!!

Date: 20-31 March 2024 Tour: Everest Base Camp Trek Guide: Ram Prasad Lamichhane This was our first time visiting Nepal and the Himalayas. We met Ram at our Hotel where he introduced himself, he was very friendly and we knew we were in safe hands. During the trek, we did struggle with the altitude and we were walking quite slowly. The uphills just never ended! Ram and our Sherpa (Bishnu) were so kind and never made us feel uncomfortable. They stuck by our side and made sure we made it to the next Tea House safely. If you are planning a trek in the Himalayas, we cannot recommend Ram enough!
