We took the last ferry at 6:30 PM. It was not busy at all. In fact, there were only two vehicles on it including ours. There were seven people who walked on. We got to the parking area for the ferry early since we did not want to miss out. We hadn’t purchased any tickets and we waited by the booth, but there was no one there. Eventually, we just drove on with the other car and paid at the cafeteria. It was more expensive from Hellesylt to Geiranger then the other way. It takes about 60 to 70 minutes for the whole route. On the way out the ferry had chairs outdoors, which made viewing delightful. On the way back, the ferry did not have any outdoor seating.

We wanted to take at least one fjord cruise on our road trip. This was the one we chose, and it did not disappoint. We booked directly through fjordtours.com in advance to guarantee a spot for our car on the ferry. Finding the ferry was easy - but there was a cruise ship also at the port which made for many people walking around. There was a staff member who checked the ticket then directed us to the correct line to board the ferry. Once on the ferry - don't stay inside! Get to the top deck and enjoy the view! It was a bit drizzly when we left, but the clouds parted and it was a nice day. There is a cafe and restrooms on board if needed. If you have the opportunity to take this ferry, it was great.

This is a transpprt and not a tour guide situation. Beautiful ferry ride But I am giving the 6 star review because the crew was superb. I had bought the wrong time for our island Excursion. When the captain realized our error, he and his staff ran after us to make sure we had a ride back. We woulda missed dinner too.
