This guided tour takes you to all the best places in the Kelleys Island State Parks and Preserves. Starting at the Glacial Grooves explore the unique history of the Island from the Ice Age, and all the way to the Devonian Era. This interesting tour is an active hike and bike through the trails with brief stops to learn and rest. The two hour adventour includes The Alvar Preserve on the North Shore, pebble beach, and also East Quarry State Park.

Kelleys Island State Park
The Kelleys Island State Park on the North end of the Island has a fun and exciting bike trail through the woods allowing guests to experience the joy of nature, and the fun of bicycling off road! We stop to see the unique Alvar Preserve and the pebbles beach before we move to an exhilarating 15-20 min ride through this park..

5.00We had the pleasure of experiencing both the Hike and Bike tour as well as the Kayak Treasure Tour. The bike tour was an opportunity to learn about the island's history, inhabitants (past and present), and the flora and fauna. Our guide, Dawn, was incredibly knowledgeable about the development of the island and everything from limestone and indigenous plants, to the businesses and schools on the island. Her enthusiasm for fun facts about the island is evident and she is a treasure trove of information. The hike/bike was appropriate for all participants on our tour, from pre-teens to middle-agers, and an effective means of transportation around the island to see the sights. The kayak tour was also excellent. After a quick tutorial on proper kayaking, we visited multiple beaches on the island and saw fossils, marshland fish and local birds (who knew bald eagles nested on the island!) Dawn also knew the best places to eat and relax on the island after the tours. Both Dawn and the tours are highly recommended!

5.00The knowledge the tour guide had of the island was amazing and the pace wasn't too fast for us. It was a gorgeous day and our tour guide was flexible with timing, pacing, and allowing us extra time to stay at locations we wanted a little more time at. Highly recommend this trip to anyone who wants to learn more about the history, geology, and beauty of Kelleys Island!

5.00Highly recommend! Some friends and I went to Kelly's Island for a couple days and did the Hike/Bike Tour with Dawn from Kellys Island Adventours. We also did the Kayak Treasure Tour and I would recommend both. Dawn is extremely knowledgeable about the Island, the Geography, the Geology, the plants, the birds, the water, the history ...... I could go on and on. She is very personable went out of her way to provide a fun time for all of us. We had a blast and would definitely do both tours again. We had varying levels of bike riding skills in our group and Dawn geared our trip to that. We were on roads and trails, but nothing too strenuous. We also stopped fairly often to hear about the area we were in. The bikes are all-terrain bikes that were surprisingly easy to ride. They had plenty of gears to make it easy wherever we went. We were very happy with our overall experience.
