Join one of Scotland’s funniest historical tour guides for a light hearted look at the history of the most iconic thoroughfare in the country, Edinburgh’s Royal Mile.
We will cover the history of the royals, power, innovation and the most important thing - the remarkable people that made this city (with extreme bias!) the most wonderful place on earth.
Beginning at the top of the mile next to the longest continuously occupied fortress in Scotland that dominates the skyline, your tour guide/comedian will tell you stories of great battles over the centuries, before making our way down the glorious mile.
We will finish outside the current official Royal residence, the magnificent Holyrood Palace.
In between be prepared for some breathtaking tales, dark stories, bright moments, all the time you will be laughing as well as learning.
Our main guide, Ross Leslie, is a 5-time Scottish Comedian of the Year finalist and an historical tour guide for several years.

The walk will be 1.1 miles at least (6000 steps)
It will be downhill (thankfully) but on cobbled streets at times, which can be slippy

Edinburgh Castle
The first proper stop on the tour. A short walk up the hill from the meeting point to the magnificent Edinburgh Castle. Topics: battles, royals, and other historical events.
Lawnmarket
A short walk down the hill to Edinburgh's Lawnmarket. Topics: industry, people and the like

5.00What a great way to spend a Sunday morning in Edinburgh! We booked a walking tour of the old town to find out more about the city, it's history and people. The attraction of this particular tour was that it was to be conducted by a comedian since we have some knowledge of the rich comedy culture to be enjoyed in Edinburgh, so we had high hopes for "Good Egg". Our choice turned out to be the best we could have made. If ever there was an expert in the craft of story telling then it would be Ross. He knows his subject, has a very engaging manner and always made us feel like we were in the pleasant company of a good friend. Of course there were laughs along the way and it was plain to see that Ross was enjoying the tour every bit as much as we were. A memorable, informative and most of all fun tour, and well worth the money, which is saying something considering I'm a Yorkshireman! Many thanks Ross.

5.00Ross delivered an excellent private walking tour experience along Edinburgh’s Royal Mile for our conference group. The tour was very cost effective and offered strong value for the quality of the experience. The two-hour duration was the perfect amount of time—comprehensive without feeling rushed. Ross was highly responsive in advance, very professional, and did an excellent job customizing the tour to meet the needs of our group. He comfortably and confidently managed a group of around 30 people, ensuring everyone stayed engaged and together throughout the walk. His storytelling and historical knowledge brought the city’s history to life, blending insight with engaging and entertaining commentary. He met us directly at our hotel lobby and safely guided us through key landmarks, including Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace, creating a seamless and well-organized experience. The overall atmosphere of the tour was perfect—lively, informative, and enjoyable from start to finish. Overall, this was a fantastic experience, and I would highly recommend Ross to anyone visiting Edinburgh.
