Surrounded by towering mountains and tucked into a scenic fjord, Ísafjörður is the cultural and historic heart of the Westfjords. This charming fishing town dates back centuries and features some of Iceland’s oldest timber houses, remnants of its days as a Danish trading post. A short stroll reveals cozy cafés, local boutiques, and the harbor area, where you might visit the Westfjords Heritage Museum to learn about life in this remote region. Bolungarvik
Just a short drive from Ísafjörður through a scenic mountain tunnel lies Bolungarvík, one of Iceland’s northernmost fishing villages. Here, we visit the Ósvör Maritime Museum, a full-scale replica of a 19th-century fishing outpost. With turf-roofed huts, drying racks, and traditional rowboats, this open-air museum offers a vivid glimpse into the harsh but resilient life of early Icelandic fishermen. The ocean views and coastal cliffs add a dramatic backdrop to this step back in time.

5.00This was an amazing tour. Our guide, Flo, was fantastic! Super friendly and informative. Very accommodating to my group’s needs. Great communication prior to meeting up. The waterfall was an amazing site and they had the perfect itinerary for a cruise excursion. And we made it back with time to spare. Take this tour! Highly recommended.

5.00Jake Lampe was a pleasure to do business with, booked 2 private tours with Valkyrie. Anna was our guide. She knew her craft, was very engaging and a pleasure to be with for both full day tours. Would highly recommend both Jake and Anna for any tour you might book to see the area. I've booked other private tours in my travels in US or international. 5.00Our experience was phenomenal! Flo made our trip so enjoyable and easy going. We felt like we were getting a real Icelandic experience, from the waterfalls, to the stop for pastries and coffee and lunch at a real Icelandic eatery. We did so many fun things on this tour and everywhere you look is magnificent. I highly recommend this tour!

5.00We were unable to make this tour due to our cruise ship skipping the port of Isafjordur. We encountered rough seas between Norway and Iceland so the ship had to slow down, making us a half day late for Reykjavik. Thus the domino effect! So disappointed about the change of itinerary but Valkyrie Tours were prompt to respond and hopefully I’ll see the refund shortly.

5.00We had a wonderful tour with Stefan today with our 13-member family group. We had a 70-year age range between the youngest member and the oldest member of our group, and Stefan was easily able to accommodate our range of activity levels. It was very well-paced so we didn’t feel too rushed as a large group. We also learned a lot about Icelandic history, culture, and music. Glad we went with this tour over one of the standard cruise ship ones— highly recommend!

5.00Jake was an excellent tour guide. He told us so much about the area on our way to the waterfall and other stops. He used a microphone so everyone could hear well. It was a small group so it felt like a private tour. We highly recommend this tour.
