Really enjoyed the workshop where you get hands on creation of a small notebook and different items using the mizuhiki cords. You get to make your own multiple choices of paper and colors of cords, giving you plenty of opportunity to tap into your creativity. Unfortunately my hands fumbled around with the mizuhiki cords but Kaho-san was so kind and patient. Highly recommend this workshop if you want to combine your interest in Japanese crafts along with a hands on experience.

I had a wonderful time learning to tie multiple mizuhiki knots and making a notebook from scratch. It was fun to choose all of the materials and I especially appreciated the small class size -- and, notably, it was possible to book this class as an individual participant without having to pay for a "two participant minimum," which I noticed was common for other similar classes. This was a charming class, and I purchased additional materials when I left so that I can make more knots and show friends back home.

We learned how to make a beautiful notebook and traditional decorative Japanese knots to make a bookmark. The workshop was well organized and easy to follow. We also learned about washi , Japanese paper making, and other paper craft shops in the area. Tea and special cookies were served at the end. Kami, the owner’s cat, was friendly and entertained us as we worked.
