On the southern slopes of Greater Caucasus there's a unique settlement called Lahij. This settlement is notable with its authentic handicrafts traditions. Craftsmen of Lahij preserved their traditions and technologies of working on non-ferrrous metals, like copper and bronze through centuries. Cobblestoned streets of this amazing city will offer you picteresque view to tinsmiths and blacksmiths, as well as its shops, which will amaze you with carpets and rug crafts. Locals of this medieval village have developed sophisticated construction techniques due to frequent earthquakes. The experts claim that its old sewage system was built about 1500 years ago. You will also have a chance to enjoy a view of the majestic natural canyon and Zernava suspension bridge. This magnificent place will be followed by a picnic party, which will cater mix of kebabs (pieces of lamb, kofte, chicken and grilled vegetables), fresh salads and local hommemade wine.

The next point will be the village of Lahij, the way to which lies through the forests and serpentine roads of the Caucasus Mountains. You will have the opportunity to see the breathtaking natural canyon, and you will also stop at the Zernava suspension bridge. The particular architectural style of Lahij will undoubtedly stun you with its two-storey houses and cobbled streets stretching along the banks of the Girdiman River. Lahij is a real village of craftsmen and artisans who have preserved their traditions and technologies of working on non-ferrous metals (copper, bronze). The magnificent works of Lahij masters on copper vessels were exhibited at the World Exhibition in Vienna in 1873 (Weltausstellung 1873). Here, each quarter has its own unique mosque, which reinforces the impression of guests from the village.

This is the second trip with him and I can tell you that he is the best Guide that accompanied me to Azerbaijan! Interesting locations, beautiful places, informative stories. I advise you. P.S. Nazir speaks excellent English as well.

5.00This was a wonderful day in Azerbaijan! There were several interesting stops. Our guide, Nazperi, was informative and entertaining. Our driver, Kniyaz, was skillful and professional. Lahij is a picture perfect village with plenty of shops and photo-ops. Food was delicious. Good value for money. Highly Recommend.

5.00I highly recommend this tour run by the ATI travel company, to anyone who wants to see something of the interior of Azerbaijan. Travelling through barren plains to cultivated land, wine country, orchards and finally into the Greater Caucasus mountains to travel through impressive gorges, the final destination is a traditional village of copper workers. Touristy of course but fascinating nonetheless . Our tour guide, Nazir, was very knowledgeable and fluent in both English and Russian. There were just 7 people in our group and the vehicle was very comfortable . 12 hours is a long trip but definitely worth while.

5.00We really enjoyed the Lahic tour! The day was filled with plenty of stops. While in the van, our guide Nazir explained a lot about Azerbaijan's history etc. The guide was friendly and approachable, and gave us plenty of time to walk around.
