I had such an incredible time experiencing the Mayan culture in the small village of Nuevo Durango. A local family taught me and my group how to make authentic tamales, and as those cooked, we visited their farm to learn about their organic farming practices. Everyone within the community was very welcoming and sweet (and the food was delicious!) Many, many thanks to our tour guide, Marcela, who served as our translator, educator, and hilarious companion for a few excursions we went on throughout the week. I can't recommend her enough -- SHE IS AMAZING and very knowledgeable.
