Meeting point at Mindo Central Park at 5:50 a.m. Our first experience will be an up-close encounter with playful hummingbirds such as the Booted Racket-tail, White-necked Jacobin, Purple-throated Woodstar, Brown Inca, Rufous-tailed Hummingbird, and many others. Your expert guide will remain attentive to every new arrival visiting the reserve. Among the most spectacular birds that regularly visit the feeders are the famous toucans, including the Chocó Toucan, Yellow-throated Toucan, Toucan Barbet, and the remarkable Plate-billed Mountain Toucan, a species that is often observed during the first months of the year and again from June onward. A variety of colorful tanagers also frequent the reserve, including Golden Tanager, Silver-throated Tanager, Palm Tanager, Golden-naped Tanager, and the beautiful Glistening-green Tanager. Other less frequent but highly sought-after visitors to the reserve and the Mindo area include the iconic Andean Cock-of-the-rock, several species. The early bird catches the worm. Getting up early was rewarded with impressive scenes of the colorful birdlife. My guide Narry has a trained eye, explained everything to me very well, and captured great shots with the lens.

I had a fantastic time birdwatching in Mindo! The experience was incredibly rewarding — the variety of birds we saw was amazing, and the natural beauty of the area made it even more special. The guides were extremely knowledgeable and passionate, which made the whole experience both fun and educational. They spotted birds I would have never seen on my own and shared lots of interesting facts along the way. Whether you’re an experienced birder or just curious about nature, I highly recommend joining a birdwatching tour in Mindo. It was one of the highlights of my trip!

We experienced a wonderful morning in the cloud forest of Mindo. We observed more than 60 species early in the morning. The guide was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about birds and explained to us the name of each species we observed. A 100% recommended tour.
