A beautiful experience climbing at night, the guidance of Matteo was essential as he led us through the physically most challenging points, making the weather-related surprises manageable… thank you, thank you, and thank you again!

I did the Pico do Vulcão (Mount Pico) sunrise climb with Matteo as our guide and it was absolutely one of the highlights of my trip. From start to finish, Matteo was fantastic — knowledgeable, patient, encouraging, and genuinely passionate about the mountain. He set a great pace, kept the group's spirits up during the tougher sections, and made sure everyone felt safe and supported the whole way. The real magic happened at the summit. After the climb up in the dark, Matteo pulled out a thermos of hot tea and coffee, along with cookies, and we sipped them while watching the sun rise above the clouds. That little touch turned an already amazing experience into something truly special — it felt less like a guided tour and more like sharing sunrise with a friend who happens to know the mountain inside out. If you're considering this climb, do it — and if you can request Matteo as your guide, even better. Huge thanks to him for making it such a memorable day.

On May 24, 2026, I joined the Tripix Azores Sunrise hike on Mt. Pico, and I was extremely impressed with both the company and our guide, Matteo. I was picked up from my hotel exactly on time, and once we arrived at the Mountain House, we were given our equipment—trekking poles, headlamps, and personal tracking devices—along with safety instructions before beginning the hike. Climbing in complete darkness, lit only by the moon and a sky full of stars, was unforgettable. Matteo set a comfortable pace for everyone, moving steadily from one trail marker to the next with regular rest stops. We reached the summit about an hour before sunrise, which gave us plenty of time to take photos, enjoy tea and coffee, and watch the mountain gradually come to life before the sun rose. The views were spectacular. Matteo is an exceptionally experienced guide, with more than 1,000 climbs of Mt. Pico over the course of his career. He was informative, engaging, and clearly focused on our safety at every stage of the trip. The photos and videos he captured during the climb were outstanding in both quality and variety. His attention to detail was especially evident before the descent, when he personally checked each person’s hiking shoes to make sure they were ready for the long and challenging way down. I strongly recommend Tripix as a company and Matteo as an outstanding guide.

The night ascent of the volcano is absolutely recommended. We inquired easily via WhatsApp the day before. Our guide Matteo did an excellent job and was able to celebrate a personal milestone with our group: 1000 Pico ascents! Incredible..!

Super cool. Our guide Matteo guided us well and could read every path we took well. He also took a lot of pictures and videos which have become super cool images that you can download later. This organization is one of the few 2x to take you to the absolute top. For a great sunset and sunrise (if the weather is good). We were super lucky that both climbs were top weather wise. If you are going to climb Mount Pico, do the overnight climb with Tripix an experience you will not soon forget. Thank you so much for this great experience.

Together with a group of friends, we climbed the Peak and overnighted in the crater. It was an experience that will remain forever recorded in memory, so special it was! The guide who accompanied us, Matteo, gave us all the safety and confidence needed to reach Stack 46! To culminate with a sunset, at the top of the Piquinho and toast such a beautiful achievement, with the pleasant surprise brought by the guide Matteo, was the cherry on top of the cake. It was a brutal experience. Thank you Tripix and thank you Matteo for all the professionalism. Until the next time

I did this night trekking in early May 2026, with the guide Matteo. Matteo was fantastic, he was able to make trekking much easier thanks to his advice and his experience. Trekking is objectively tiring, it is a difficult mountain to tackle if you have no experience. In particular I struggled more in the downhill part, in the last 2 hours. I'm glad I tested myself, however, as I had the chance to see one of the most impressive views of my life.

If I could rate this 100/10 I would!! Matteo and the Tripix Team were highly professional, knowledgeable, and demonstrated a genuine passion for Mount Pico. I would not recommend hiking without a guide - it is steep and the guides know the best route to help preserve the terrain. Matteo was incredibly encouraging and brought coffee + tea (and a surprise) for us at the summit! It was a magical and unforgettable experience that couldn’t have been done without Tripix. Obrigada Montanha!
