What To Expect
Forte de Sao Miguel
You'll see a beautiful 16th-century fortress featuring a red lighthouse and a surfing museum. Inside, you'll find surfboards donated by famous surfers who have ridden the Nazaré waves. Additionally, there's a gallery where you can learn how the world's largest waves are formed. There is a 2€ contribution required at the entrance for maintenance.

The Church of Our Lady of Nazaré is a beautiful church with an exuberant interior, holding a couple of secrets we'll unveil during our visit.

5.00We used Nomad Steps for two experiences—a private transfer from Lisbon to Porto and a full day in the Douro Valley—and both were outstanding. Timur was our guide for both days, and the entire experience felt first‑class from start to finish. He was professional, on time, easygoing, attentive, and kind. The car was very comfortable for the two of us, and the conversation made the drives fly by. He played music we liked, including fado, and shared insights about Portuguese history, culture and current events in a way that felt genuine and engaging. We originally found Timur through the Airbnb we rented in Porto, and we’re so glad we did. He not only suggested great activities and restaurants but also helped us make reservations, which made everything incredibly easy. Our transfer day included stops in Óbidos and Nazaré, where we visited the surf museum—such a fun surprise. The Douro Valley tour was equally impressive: two excellent winery visits, a tour with a vineyard owner, a shared boat ride on the Douro River, a fantastic lunch, and scenic photo stops along the way. Timur handled every detail, removing all the stress and planning that usually comes with a day trip. Don’t let the cost scare you away. Once you consider everything that’s included—and the level of service—you realize it’s worth every penny.

5.00I chose to use Nomad Steps to drive my family from Lisbon to Porto during our holiday and I am so thankful I did! Not only did Timur provide a safe, comfortable and scenic transfer for us, he made multiple stops along the way to see unique locations - including an opportunity to walk the walls of a medieval town - and have a fabulous lunch en route. We loved every minute of the drive and I highly recommend this method of travel. It allowed us to see so much more of this beautiful country.

5.00This was simply an amazing day. Timur is a knowledgeable guide and wonderful host. He is a true Portugal brand ambassador. We thoroughly enjoyed all of the stops and he was very accommodating to our personal requests and needs. This was a wonderful way to move our journey from Porto to Lisbon and learn along the way. Highly recommended.

5.00BOOK IT NOW! We booked Nomad Steps to pick us up from Finisterre after walking the Camino. Best decision ever. Timur was right on time, the van was clean and comfy, and his knowledge of the area made for a great ride. We stopped for lunch in Vigo and then went on to Bom Jesus de Monte for a lovely tour. He provided great tips for our stay in Porto and helped us arrange a ride to the airport with one of their partners. I wish I could could give more than 5 stars!
