Hunting the Northern Lights in Lapland is an unforgettable experience — and with Arctic GM, it’s approached as a structured Aurora hunt guided by real-time conditions.
Operated by The Original Aurora Hunters®, Arctic GM is a family-run company with roots in Lapland dating back to the 1600s, bringing generations of local knowledge into every tour.
The evening begins at a central meeting point in Rovaniemi. Travel by comfortable coach as guides continuously adjust the route based on weather and Aurora forecasts, with the possibility of driving up to 2 hours from the city, including toward the Swedish border when conditions require.
Stops are made in carefully selected locations away from light pollution. When the sky clears, step into the Arctic landscape while guides assist with photos under the Northern Lights.
Thermal overalls, hot drinks, and light snacks are included. The experience lasts approximately 4–6 hours.

What To Expect
Rovaniemi
Begin your evening at a central meeting point in Rovaniemi, where you will meet your guide before departing by comfortable coach. The tour is designed as a Northern Lights hunt, with the route adjusted continuously based on real-time weather and Aurora forecasts. Travel may take you up to 2 hours from the city, including toward the Swedish border when conditions require. Along the way, your guide will share insights into the Northern Lights, Arctic nature, and local culture while searching for the clearest skies. Stops are made in carefully selected locations away from light pollution. When conditions are favorable, you can step into the Arctic landscape to observe the Northern Lights and take photos, with guidance from your tour leader. Thermal overalls are provided for comfort in cold conditions. During the evening, you will also enjoy hot drinks and light snacks. After the experience, return by coach to Rovaniemi. Total duration is approximately 4–6 hours.

5.00We had an absolutely incredible experience with Arctic GM Northern Lights Chase on 12th Feb 2026. Just when we had almost given up hope of seeing the aurora, our guide Pamela’s dedication and passion made all the difference ... We crossed borders to Sweden from Finland and at around 2 am, we were finally rewarded with the most breathtaking display. We were even lucky enough to witness the elusive pink hues, which made the moment feel truly magical. She was there every step of the way, capturing beautiful photos and ensuring the experience was unforgettable. Thank you, Arctic GM, for such a special and memorable adventure!

5.00Matteo is one of the most passionate guides I’ve ever met. He even drove all the way to the far northeast of Finland just to give us the best chance to see the Northern Lights. 5.00We went on the aurora hunt with them twice. The first time, we didn’t get to see anything but true to their guarantee, they took us out again for a second attempt. And that’s when it happened. Even though the aurora wasn’t very strong, it meant everything to us. We had traveled from very, very far away, and just being there, witnessing that moment, felt truly magical. What makes this experience truly special is the team. The guides are incredible kind, passionate, and always with the best attitude. They genuinely care about making your experience unforgettable. 5.00I thoroughly researched in advance which operator to book with and chose Arctic Circle due to the good reviews. We were picked up on time and only had to drive for about two hours until we were able to see the most magical experience, namely the Northern Lights. The organization was perfect, and I can only recommend Arctic Circle to everyone. Great praise also to a home that patiently took many photos of us. It may be a little more expensive than with other providers, but you really do see the Northern Lights, and I must say that the experience was worth every cent. Thank you very much for fulfilling my dream!

5.00The tour was extraordinary. The efforts the guide and the team put in to get us guaranteed viewing of the northern lights was truly remarkable. The guide Carmen was really enthusiastic and drove us for more than 2 hours north of Rovaniemi. It was one of the most memorable events of our life. Definitely recommended.

5.00Severe snow forecast during our stay that the tour was cancelled twice. On the third & last night, it was a go but only to be told we had a 15% chance to see the aurora. We drove 300kms to Sweden to find a sliver of clear sky and we found her! Kudos to this tour operator for trying their very best to make our dreams come true!

5.00The experience was spectacular! The guide explained the phenomenon to us in detail and guided us to Sweden so we could see the aurora boreal! It was an explosion of wonderful forms! The car was a comfortable van with heating, considering the cold it made on the day (-28c). We left at the scheduled time and returned after enough observation period! I highly recommend the walk!
