This experience requires a Minimum number of 2 participants, if this is cancelled because minimum is not met then you will be offered a different date/experience or a full refund.
This experience is seldom cancelled due to bad weather, it does not rain here but we have strong desert winds sometime. If it is cancelled due to bad weather, it might be rescheduled to a new time, or another date, or a full refund.
This tour can be upgraded to include Champagne, oysters and Sushi, please advise us of your special occasion or if you want a high end tour.

Please note due to the scarcity of German guides we cannot guarantee a German speaking guide, in peak season or when a cruise liner is in the Harbour and 2000guests disembark.
German speaking guides are very scarce. These will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.
please note all Cruise Liner passengers, your tour pick up time starts an hour after you have docked. The tour will depart latest an hour and a half after the pick up time. Late comers are considered a no show
What To Expect
Our journey takes us through Walvis Bay, lagune wetlands where thousands of pink Flamingos can be seen, past the enormous Salt Mine harvesting 100000 tons per month, south along the beach to Sandwich Harbor where the Dune belt meets the sea . See the waves carve away the dunes at high tide where it sometimes becomes impossible to enter this beautiful and remote area. We go on a roller coaster dune ride up to the view point with absolute surprise to see the stunning views and the quiet desert ambiance. The huge sea of sand , the dunes, have that special kind of magic ...absolutely unique. Our knowledgeable guides will tell you about the desert area and skillfully drive you to the best spots. Adrenaline soaked dune drives , searching for animals in this desolate area , learn how the plants and animals have evolved to live in the desert. Absolutely Awesome , all of it. Flamingo lagoon
Our Tour takes us through the Ramsar convention Walvisbay lagune wetlands where up to 250 000 and 54 species of birds can be seen from time: Pelicans, Flamingos, Plovers, Sandpipers and other endemic Birds can be seen. We drop our tyre air pressure and discuss the many birds

5.00We took the tour with Gerhard as our guide, and we couldn't have asked for better! The tour itself is absolutely breathtaking, but what makes it perfect are Gerhard's explanations, as he is a well of knowledge and culture not only about the area but about all of Namibia and its customs and traditions. The next time we return, we will definitely call him for another tour.

5.00On our cruise from Singapore to Mallorca, a pre-booked excursion in Namibia, Walvis Bay was canceled. However, since we really wanted to get to know this country, we quickly searched for an alternative private tour with a German guide and finally found it here. The contact was quickly established, and we were very excited. When we inquired whether our guide really spoke German, this was initially denied, but when we arrived at the meeting point, Volker greeted us. He spoke wonderful German and told us a lot about the country, nature, and the people. The tour through the desert was sensational and highly recommended. Despite the winter season, the desert sand was warm and could be walked on barefoot. From the sea salt extraction facility to the jackal observation, we had a lot of fun as a group of four and felt very comfortable. The natural spectacle - the desert sand reaching directly to the sea, thrilling mountain and valley rides, and a picnic in the desert were great experiences!

5.00Core memory! Riaan was an incredible guide. Catching a shovelnose ghecko for the kids to see, across sand dunes, a game drive at the end, and sunset on the way home. Kids absolutely loved it!
A Great Day in the Namib Desert

5.00The four of us had a great day in the Namib desert with our driver / guide Stefan. The trip started with us seeing groups of flamingos on a lake after which we headed south along the coast past thousands of other seabirds. We then turned inland to the dunes, where we were very glad of Stefan’s experience in driving up and down the very steep slopes. We were provided with an excellent picnic lunch served on portable tables in the middle of the desert. In the afternoon we saw a springbok grazing on the sparse vegetation, as well as glimpses of whales breaching in the ocean. We would highly recommend this excursion.

5.00Excellent tour! I did the full day as opposed to the half day and it was worth it. Weather cleared up and got excellent views in the sand dunes & over the ocean. Got to see some wildlife in the desert. Nice little lunch. Andrew the guide was great and very knowledgeable. Def recommend!

5.00Amazing experience and breathtaking views. Our guide Winton made sure we fully enjoyed our half day excursion to Sandwich Harbour. Starting off seeing flamingos and pelicans he also explained the pink lakes and salt mining process. Then the real excitement started with a beautiful drive along the shore (literally next to water!) And up to the view point. We were lucky in our timing both to make it before tide came in and also for the fog to clear and have amazing views. Even could see whales from the viewpoints. The day continues through dune driving and more photo spots before ending with a "snack" - delicious and big enough for a real meal! As with every drive in Namibia- look out both windows for very different and beautiful views

5.00A very rewarding excursion. Our guide Gerhard had a lot of information about the tour, the history of the area, and the country. During the drive, we felt safe and well taken care of at all times and had a lot of fun. The views at each stop were breathtaking. We also really enjoyed the picnic. The outing is highly recommended.
