The Melaka After-Dark Food Tour is designed to showcase the city’s vibrant nightlife and culinary culture through the eyes of a local. Led by a passionate foodie-storyteller, you’ll wander beyond the main tourist trail to discover authentic tastes and hidden gems that reflect Melaka’s multicultural spirit.
During this 3.5-hour evening walk, you’ll enjoy four curated food stops featuring local favourite that showcases Melaka’s diverse culinary heritage. Stroll along the Melaka River Walk, soak in the village charm of Kampung Morten, and explore the lively Bunga Raya area known for its street eats and old-world character.

5.00We had such a wonderful experience with John! He is so knowledgeable about the history of Melaka and what life is like now. All of the food was unique and something we wouldn’t have found by ourselves - and it was all so good! The walk along the river was also so beautiful. It’s a perfect way to get acclimated to the city. Highly recommend!

5.00We had a great time on the tour. John was very knowledgeable and led us to places we would not have found on our own. The food was interesting, delicious, and a balanced mix of Malay, Baba Nyonya, Indian, and Chinese. Would recommend.

5.00We were guided through several eateries both inside local restaurants and sitting at Street vendor stalls in local alleyways that we would not probably have ventured into without a guide. John was informative about the history, mixture of cultures and ethnic heritages of the population local to Malacca and the effects on the cuisine and intermingling of flavours. He was very informative and selected some good and varied foods for us to try. Altogether a great experience.

5.00A fantastic way to discover Melaka! For me, the food tours are one of the best experiences to get to know the culture of a place and this tour was exactly what I expected. Our guide John is a true local expert who knows all the family-run stalls that have been around for generations. He also explained the roots of Peranakan culture and history of Melaka. A must for anyone who wants to know the "why" behind the food.

Our guide John was extremely knowledgeable and clearly very experienced, especially when it comes to the authentic and diverse cuisine of Malaysia and Melaka in particular. He introduced us to many local dishes and explained their cultural background in a way that made the experience much more meaningful. In addition to the food, he shared many fascinating insights about the local culture, traditions, and history of the area. The route itself was beautiful, especially the walk along the river, which made the tour even more enjoyable. It felt like a perfect combination of great food, cultural learning, and sightseeing. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and definitely deserves a 5-star rating.
