Avignon
Come and enjoy a unique gastronomic experience in the majestic city of Avignon! In the heart of Provence, Avignon is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful jewels in the south of France, with its exceptional historical center, its renowned theatre festival and, of course, its delicious Provençal cuisine: aromatic herbs, tomatoes, olive oil, a good glass of Côte du Rhône and sun-ripened fruit. Possible tastings may change according to the season and availabilities of our partners. Let our local food expert walk you through the historic streets of this magnificent "City of the Popes", stopping at its delicious shops, tasting Rhône Valley wine and local specialties.
Inside the local covered market, where the locals run their errands and buy fresh ingredients to cook at home, you will discover the pillars of Provençal cuisine: local olive oil and fresh vegetables, used to prepare the famous tapenade. Here you will also try a slice of the famous pissaladière, a tasty and juicy onion tart with anchovies and olives. One of the most beloved snacks in town (lunch only)

Our guide, Maryna, was lovely. Very knowledgeable about the history of Avignon and gave us many helpful recommendations to visit other towns in the Luberon. The food was interesting and diverse. Starting with a wonderful charcuterie followed by an olive oil tasting. Excellent lunch of baked Camembert and frites with wine and final stop for dessert of your choice. I would highly recommend the tour.

Our guide Marina was fun, informative and a joy to spend a few hours with on this food tour in Avignon. Marina met us promptly at the stunning Palais des Papes, giving us some historical background on the palace, and we proceeded to visit Les Halles, the main city food market. We enjoyed apero style appetizers, tasted the finest olive oils and balsamic vinegars from Serge’s Olives, and talked about the local delicacies and food customs of Provence. Next, we had an early lunch at Le Vintage with a glass of wine, while talking with Marina about all Avignon has to offer, culturally and socially. To follow up, though we barely had room after such a great meal, we went to a local tarte cafe, L’Epicerie de Ginette. Gorgeous raspberry and a pear/chocolate tarte, in a gorgeous historical square. Lastly, we visited one of the best local Avignon/Provence gift and gourmet shops to taste local sweets and honeys, and ended the tour with Marina giving us some background while viewing the famous Pont d’Avignon. Excellent time, excellent food, guide and company!

Natasjja was a wonderful guide as she took us through the tour! We chatted on many things and she shared her deep love for the region with us. The actual tour was a let down as we were taken to various places to taste cheese, no protein. Nastajja made the tour enjoyable

What a wonderful day! My husband and I were extremely lucky to have Maryna as our guide for the Taste Avignon tour. Although Maryna was not born and raised in Avignon, she has clearly devoted herself to understanding the city’s history, the culture of Provence, and the traditions that make this region so special. Her knowledge was impressive, but what made the experience truly exceptional was her unique perspective. Having lived in other parts of the world, she brought a broader context to the stories, customs, and cuisine we encountered throughout the day, which enriched the experience in a way we hadn’t expected. Maryna was warm, engaging, and passionate about sharing her adopted home with us. She effortlessly blended history, culture, and food into a tour that felt both informative and personal. We learned fascinating details about Avignon and Provence while enjoying delicious local specialties, and every stop felt thoughtfully chosen. The pace was perfect, the conversation was lively, and the entire experience felt authentic rather than scripted. By the end of the tour, we not only had a deeper appreciation for the region’s food and culture, but also felt like we had spent the day exploring with a knowledgeable friend. If you’re considering the Taste Avignon tour, I cannot recommend Maryna highly enough. She was a highlight of our time in Provence and helped create memories we will cherish long after our trip has ended.
