Our family of 5 loved this tour. Our guide Laura was absolutely lovely and informative. We spent the morning hiking around rather than doing the museum etc and it was a perfect peaceful morning with spectacular views and energy.

I would like to share my quite negative experience with Amigo Tours Barcelona. I went to visit Montserrat from Barcelona. The crux of the issue began when I was 3 minutes late for the departure back to Barcelona, because the funicular took much longer than I was told by the staff. Remember to be on time as the guide (Mervin) is literally not going to wait more than a minute. On my way back to Barcelona with public transport 15 minutes after that I got the phone call from the Amigo Tours office, suggesting as if the guide were still waiting for me. So be on time as the guides make no concessions with regards to time schedule.

By car an hour drive from Pineda de Mar to the start of the cable car, which takes you up to the monastery. Be there early, the queue can be up to 2 hours in high season.

The trip panned out exactly as described with no surprises. Actually, we had more free time than originally expected which was a lovely bonus.

This was a great tour for half a day. The bus was easy to find, as described by Amigo Tours. The bus was also very clean and pristine. The driver was also amazing and did a wonderful job getting us there and back safely. The views of Montserrat were indescribable. There was enough free time to take the funicular up the mountain, take a quick hike, have an early lunch and do a little shopping for souvenirs. Nuria was our guide and she was great! She was very kind, approachable and very knowledgeable about the history of mountain and the monastery, as well as the sights/buildings of Barcelona we drove past en route to Montserrat. This is definitely one tour to remember!

The experience was adequate but the company, Amigo Travel were not transparent in their communication with prospective buyers. The pickup location is a train station in Barcelona. There was no company official holding up a sign saying “Montserrat”, as was advertised. A panel van arrived outside the station about 5 minutes before expected time of departure. On enquiring, the guide said “yes, this is the transport to Montserrat”. There was a set price for the experience, which was really a transportation fee only, which was about 60 euros. Once we arrived at Montserrat we had to pay an entrance fee. About 10 euros. The most disappointing miscommunication was that we were not able to view and kiss the feet of the black Madonna. It was oversubscribed by the time we reached the ticket 🎟️ office at 0930. For Black Madonna viewing we should have booked for this at least several days earlier. It left a bit of “ a bad taste in our mouths”. It is still definitely a location to experience. The general entrance fee and additional Black Madonna fee should be clearly communicated to prospective customers. The tour guide herself had an engaging personality and was fairly knowledgeable. However, she was only available as a guide to customers who had “ paid for more”. “More” included such things as riding up the last elevation from the little town below in a train. The rest of us completed the upwards journey in the van. Once we got out of the van we were “on our own” for the rest of our time at Montserrat. This was OK, but again this was not clearly communicated by Amigo Tours. Our version of the trip was Amigo Transport!!
