For a sampling overview of Vicenza's suburban Palladian Villas and the fascinating history of the great Architect. A splendid self-guided E-Bike ride among bucolic landscapes and works of genius that marked the history of our Golden Age.
Every place in Vicenza has seen the works of this brilliant architect come to life. In the streets of the center, cobblestones recall the steps of a young stonemason who came from Padua to build the new face of the city and its fortunate countryside. Just outside the urban area, among the stones and dust of courtyards in the making, Giangiorgio Trissino coined the most famous name in modern architecture: Palladio, who, like an angel with golden wings, came to shape the forms of a new culture.
In addition to the Unesco heritage sites listed in the tour details, you will also be able to pass by and admire the Oasis of the Sources of the Bacchiglione River and the beautiful Villa da Porto Pedrotti and Villa da Porto Casarotto.

What To Expect
Palazzo Valmarana Braga
Your Palladian Cicerone will introduce you to Vicenza's Unesco World Heritage Site and its Golden Age through the narration of one of the architect's finest palaces, Palazzo Valmarana Braga. You'll contemplate the most extraordinary facade of a Palladian palace, the precious Renaissance fresco with its cosmology on the ceiling of the Count's study, the ideal reconstruction of what the Empress of Austria saw on her visit to these places, and the story of the spread of Palladianism in what was once the cloth emporium.
Villa Trissino Trettenero
Not a Palladian villa, but the place where the architect's life changed. He was working on the building site of Giangiorgio Trissino's villa, that he wanted to transform in the Roman fashion of Raphael and the ancients. Still a stonemason, Palladio was increasingly involved in architecture for the workshop of the Pedemuros, the most renowned construction company in Vicenza, who had contracted the work. Thus occurred, right here, the encounter that marked his destiny, when he recognized in Giangiorgio the mentor he needed, the interpreter of his great project for Vicenza.

5.00Our group had a wonderful day in early June with Manuel as he took us across the Vicenza countryside and educated us on Andrea Palladio. His knowledge of Palladio is both deep and wide and the pure emotion he had for Palladio’s architecture was evident. The e-bikes were top notch bikes with Bosch motors that performed great. The route was lovely with appropriate stops to enjoy and experience Palladian architecture and learn how to read where form meets function to create beautiful structures. Manuel helped us learn how to read the artwork to better understand what it was trying to tell us. Our group went from just appreciating the art to basic interpretation of the art. What an ‘Ah ha’ moment. All-in, it was a fantastic day and our group really appreciated that we toured with Palladian Routes.

5.00We had 4 couples embarked on an e-bike journey with Manuel's guidance. We had an awesome day Vicenza, seeing most of the important landmarks this beautiful city has. We covered about 14 miles, then stopped for a delightful lunch. We ended the day visiting 2 more landmarks, including the "Rotunda". Simply beautiful. Manuel was the best host and tour guide. Extremely knowledgeable and easy to relate to. We highly recommend this tour.

5.00I joined this tour with a large group of friends and I did not know much about Palladian architecture prior to this tour. Manuel was such an enthusiastic and energetic guide and teacher and made it interesting for a newbie like me. Someone with a better understanding of architecture would revel in the depth of his knowledge and passion for Palladium villas. The e-bikes were perfect and I truly enjoyed riding through the countryside and also through some regular Italian neighborhoods. 100% recommend this e-bike tour (even if you are not not as knowledgeable about architecture)

5.00A wonderful experience where we took a real journey back in time... it was very exciting! I must say that Manuel made the whole day particularly pleasant with his interesting, punctual and sometimes truly suggestive explanations! A Judas with 10 cum laude! Even the picnic break was "magical" and very tasty 😋 ... and against my expectations I recommend it even in winter ... (just remember to wear hats and gloves 😉). Thanks again Manuel.

5.00A must-do tour for architects and history buffs alike (ie anyone visiting Italy. The e-bikes were great, even for the unfit, the tour extensive, the lunch generous. I would take your own phone for navigation assistance as the ones supplied to use were a bit fiddly. Age or riding experience should be no barrier, I am a senior, and my daughter no athlete, and we managed easily. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

5.00I had the opportunity to spend a day with my wife in the suburbs of Vicenza, moving along the "Vicenza Villas" route by Palladian Routes. It was a fantastic time, full of different landscapes and interesting buildings. This experience is different from walking or driving as it allowes you to learn about the city and Italy in detail. The electronic bikes allow you to move quickly without getting tired, but also leave you the chance to examine the surroundings closely. I recommend this experience to everyone.
