  The tour was just amazing from start to finish. Very knowledgeable and pleasant tour guide. Prison island, stone town and spice farm was the perfect way of knowing a bit more about the island.

  Muhammad met us at our hotel at 8am and introduced us to our driver Ali, both were a constant source of knowledge, entertainment and support throughout our day. Muhammad’s knowledge of every plant at the Spice Farm was incredibly impressive and the support team were great, making us crowns, earrings, chains, rings and bracelets out of leaves from the farm. We also had the opportunity to purchase some lovely and reasonably priced products, there’s a lot to chose from 😁 From the farm we had a short drive to lunch which was already in preparation by a lovely group of people who were incredibly welcoming, the food (there was an awful lot) was the nicest food we had eaten in our first 5 days in Zanzibar, not a slant on others, this was just so so good. We then headed off to Stone Town to visit Prison Island, Muhammad already had spoken to the captain of our boat en route and he was ready and waiting for us on the beach when we arrived. The 15 minute boat ride over to the island give us some wonderful refreshment, when you need the spray of the sea, it works wonders 😁. Once again, Muhammad was able to share so much information about the history of the island and answered all our questions. The highlight has to be hanging out with some huge turtles that were as old as 150. If you get the chance to massage the neck of a turtle please do, they absolutely love it. After the short hop back to Stone Town, Muhammad shared all the sights to see if we wanted to do them all or pick and chose. Stone Town is a haven for cat lovers, they are everywhere, super chilled and very friendly. We saw the crew prepping for the Bulsara music festival (in case you don’t know that is Freddie Mercury’s surname), his house, his museum, historical doors and amazing alleys for every possible shop you can imagine. Once again, Muhammad was incredibly informative as we strolled through the town. Ali’s humour in dealing with the traffic on the way in to Stone Town was back for all to see on the way out too. Both Muhammad & Ali were ready to answer all our questions on the drive back and even stopped off for 15 minutes for us to watch the sunset. The trip is a full day, but it was definitely worth it and would highly recommend this trip to anyone.

  Great day - Starting on a spice farm to see how the spices grow that we use. Prison Island - the giant tortoises are fantastic. Stone town is a must see-how different religions can live side by side is an example for the world!
