Kochi Castle
Known as "the best castle on the Nankaido (road)," is a symbol of Kochi City. Currently, there are only 12 castles from the pre-Edo period in Japan, but Kochi Castle is one of the most precious castles. The current main tower was rebuilt in August 1747. The greatest feature of Kochi Castle is that the cohesive entirely of the main building group, with the Tenshu, Goten, and Corridor Bridge, all being completely present along with the stone wall and so on. The gazebo on the top floor of the castle tower overlooks Kochi city.
Hirome Ichiba
Large hall with food stalls from around 40 various restaurants, plus souvenir shops and other shops. Perhaps you will enjoy some of the famous “Katsuo Tataki,” which is seared bonito fish. It is recommended that you put salt and sliced garlic on it before tasting. Do enjoy the local foods unique to Kochi.

We had a great tour with Michi in Kochi. We visited several sites and she was very informative about what we were visiting. At most sites she had print outs with maps and pictures to help explain what we were seeing. She walked at our pace and talked about some things we would occasionally stop to look at. She asked what we wanted for lunch and called to make reservations so we didn't have to wait. It was a traditional Japanese restaurant and the local dish of seared bonito was excellent. Later in the day we had a choice of a couple of experiences and we chose the Matcha experience. Was a great way to experience a Japanese tradition with Matcha and cooking sweet rice balls. A great day with lots of laughter and memories.

This tour hits the highlights of Kochi and our guide, Rimo, was an energetic and thoughtful resource. It’s a long day and we were tired by the end, but she helped us navigate the public transportation and sites with ease. Highly recommended.

Kay provided us an absolutely fantastic day! She is a warm and informative guide. Her communication skills are second to none. Kay listened to our preferences and adapted our plans accordingly. She escorted us through lunch, explaining all of the different food choices and translating for us to avoid issues. We all felt very taken care of.

This tour had so many wonderful surprises. We put ourselves in Rimo's capable hands and she provided a magical day. We went to the Makino botanical gardens not knowing what to expect and it turned out to be one of the best experiences of our trip. It has great exhibits and plant selections. My nephew, age 29, and I are not gardeners and we had the best time. SHe let us spend all of the time we wanted there. We then went to Hirome market and did some shopping with Rimo's help. Lunch was at a traditional Japanese restaurant where we tasted local Kochi dishes. This was one of the best lunches we had on the whole trip and made my nephew realize he liked fish. We then went to the Kochi castle. The museum is very good and had many local artifacts so do not skip it. Rimo is a wonderful guide who listens and cares about her clients. She altered parts of the day to accommodate the things we wanted to stop and see along the way. She is from Kochi and loves her city - she made us love it too.
