You’ll join a hands-on dumpling-making workshop where you’ll learn how to prepare and fold traditional Chinese dumplings from scratch. Your instructor will introduce the ingredients and demonstrate two classic dumpling-folding styles. Step by step, you’ll practice shaping your own dumplings and learn techniques you can use with any filling in the future. After making your dumplings, they’ll be steamed on site, and you’ll have the chance to taste what you’ve created. The session is beginner-friendly, designed for small groups, and held in a relaxed setting inside a vegetarian restaurant, a fun and interactive way to experience Chinese food culture beyond simply eating.

5.00The staff was extremely helpful in teaching us techniques for making dumplings. We had three small children with us—two under 10 and a baby. They were very patient and accommodating. The dumplings were delicious. My boys enjoyed them despite not being vegetarian or liking vegetables; they ate them all in one sitting. The vegetarian course was served next door on the same property, at a restaurant. It was a beautiful space, and we received a tour of the building. There’s a lovely rooftop where kids can run around. The lunch was great. The kids were able to try new dishes and vegetables they had never had before. Overall, the staff was extremely accommodating.

5.00Such a fun and memorable activity! Making dumplings turned out to be way more exciting than I imagined. The atmosphere was friendly, everyone was laughing and chatting, and it felt like spending time with friends while learning something new. Definitely one of my favorite experiences in Shanghai.

5.00In Russia, we have a traditional dish called pelmeni, which is quite similar to Chinese dumplings. So we were curious to try authentic Chinese dumplings and chose ChinaTown Cultural Center for this experience. The workshop was really enjoyable: we could talk with the master about the ingredients and Chinese traditions. At the end of the workshop, we got to eat our own handmade dumplings.

You not only discover traditional Chinese cuisine and improve your cooking skills, but also enjoy a delicious lunch afterward. Since the dumplings are vegetarian, this workshop is suitable for everyone. We really enjoyed our time there and took some wonderful photos!

5.00We made tofu dumplings with friends, and they were SO delicious! These are definitely my new favorites. First, we learned to fold traditional Chinese ones. Then we scarfed them down with tea and tons of laughs

5.00I went to the Cultural Center to experience making dumplings as well as some other activities. Not only was the experience affordable, the instructors were kind and very helpful. I learned a lot about making dumplings by hand. I highly recommend this place to anyone that wants to learn about Chinese culture.
