Mā‘alaea is a centuries-old Hawaiian fishing village—once home to a prominent heiau and one of the island’s largest collections of petroglyphs—whose canoe landing served as a portal to Maui for Hawaiian kings and warriors.
Check in at The Historic Maalaea General Store, Built in 1910. It was constructed by the Maui Dry goods and Grocery Company to serve the local fishing community and employees of the Wailuku Sugar Company. The store is the oldest surviving wood-frame building associated with the Japanese fishing community that developed in Maalaea Village.

5.00Captain Ryan and Zade provided an awesome experience for my family. Both were terrific with a ton of knowledge to share. Tremendous value overall with all of the feel of a private charter at a fraction of the cost. Got us up close in a professional manner that was never a nuisance to the whales and did not obstruct their path in the least. Well mannered, friendly and professional service from beginning to end. Highly recommend.

5.00This Capt and his mate were first class all day. They took every effort to show they truly cared about us and getting LOTS of whale sightings. True professionals. If you plan on taking a whale sightings tour, do not pass this team up!

5.00Captain Spencer and Gabriel were amazing! We saw whales the entire time we were with them. They gave us background on whale behaviors and in many cases explained how the mother was teaching her new baby. It was absolutely beautiful. We highly recommend!! (They also have snorkeling excursions available)

5.00Spencer and Konou were great. They were so knowledgeable and not only did we see lots of whales but we learned so much. The boat was great. Super stable even for someone with motion sickness. Can’t recommend enough.

5.00We recently went on a whale-watching tour, and it was an unforgettable experience! Captain Spencer and Zade made the trip truly exceptional. Both were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful, answering all our questions about whales and other topics with enthusiasm and patience. Their passion for what they do really shines through, making the experience even more enjoyable. The highlight, of course, was seeing the whales up close! It was a breathtaking sight and felt like a once-in-a-lifetime moment. Spencer did a great job ensuring we had the best views while respecting the animals’ natural habitat. The boat itself was very comfortable and well-maintained. I especially appreciated the gyro stabilizer, which made the ride so smooth that I could fully enjoy the trip, even though I’m prone to motion sickness. The two-hour tour flew by in what felt like minutes, thanks to the crew’s hospitality and engaging explanations. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to create amazing memories. Thanks, Spencer and Zade, for a fantastic adventure!

5.00Captain Spence took us on an amazing 2 hour whale watching tour in his luxury boat- Amore. We saw so many whales, up close. This was by far, the best tour we have ever been on. Captain Spence was extremely knowledgeable and clearly loves his career. We had so much fun and plan to do this again on our next visit.

5.00From the start Capt. Spence and his first mate were welcoming and made us feel like Ohana. We saw whales within 10 mins and were lucky enough to be able to parallel a “competition pod” for well over 30 minutes - we experienced multiple breaches, rainbow blows, and lots of tales up close and personal ( from a safe distance). The boat is also awesome - a new 42 ft luxury Boston Whaler that was so smooth it felt we were on a lake at times even in some chop. Definitely worth the extra money not to be on a crowded boat - we will be back on our next trip for sure! Thank you again!

5.00We saw whales first thing even though we are in very early whale season. A mother, very young calf, and their guardian. The calf was so little and cute. Ryan and staff were great as well. The boat was nice and comfortable.
