Our trekking experience was absolutely amazing! We trekked three different trails on three different days. The terrain varied from wide walking paths to steep, narrow and muddy trails. All of the trails offered amazing trekking experiences. We saw wild animals, including buffalo and chickens on the trails. our guide, MA, was fantastic! Some trails were better traveled with a hiking boot while others were sneaker friendly and muddy ones required rain boots. When rain boots were needed, we were able to get them through thehomestay. Our home stay at AN DUC was lovely. There is a main open dining area with several individual bungalows. Our bungalow was rustic, but mostly comfortable. It was very chilly for our two nights there. The bungalows are not heated, but they did have heated mattress pads, which helped. Some mattress pads heated better than others. Mine would only work on the high setting, which could be too hot at times. It was a great experience overall. The only downside for me was that meals were served outside and the two nights we were there It was very chilly. We were all wrapped up in jackets, hats and scarves to keep warm. No one stayed to socialize after meals because it was too chilly to do so. I do highly recommend a trekking experience as it is an amazing way to see this part of Vietnam.

Great trip, (Chang) our guide was amazing. Very knowledgeable and kind. Fabulous walks and managed to get a community feel. Homestay had fabulous food and amazing hospitality. A real treat to meet so many kind local people. Would recommend 3 days as gave chance to really relax and explore the area.

What was meant to be a four-day hike through the mountains of Sapa got cut short after I caught a bug/food poisoning. I ended up stopping in one of the villages to recover, and that’s alright—just part of the travel experience. My guide, Khu, was incredibly kind, checking in on me every day, and honestly, the whole village looked after me every time I managed to drag myself out of my bungalow. Once I had the strength, I explored the village, met some of the locals, and picked up some beautiful handmade pieces for friends and family. The dedication to colour and textiles is something else. Khu and I swapped stories about family, heritage, and cultural identity, and we were both blown away when I showed her traditional Assyrian clothing—so similar to traditional Vietnamese outfits. Who would’ve thought? Even though this trip didn’t go as planned, I was rewarded with something else entirely. something something...Looking at it from a glass-half-full perspective…

Really enjoyed these few days of walking in and around the villages of Sapa. Such a new experience for us. Our guide, Cat, told us all about village life & their hand crafts. Our homestay was really comfortable & clean & the food was delicious. They were also able to organise tickets & a taxi to get to Fansipan in our spare time. A really wonderful experience for the family (we travelled with 3 teens)
