• Great way to visit the temples!

  We just came back from this trip, and I think we need to split this review in two: one for the boat and the other one for the tours and experiences. I took one star because the boat, King of Thebes, was a bit run down. The rooms were nice, but the carpet on the corridors was old and needs replacing, the artificial grass on the top deck was also old and looked tacky, the water in the pool was cloudy. There was no toilet paper or towels to dry your hands at the toilet by the lobby, and there were a couple of vendors at the bazar level that were a little bit persistent in offering their services and goods. From the point of view of the experience and the tours, this cruise is the right one for you if that’s your main objective for this trip. It’s not a Sun-bathe, relaxing cruise, but a jam packed, early start (4-5am) adventure. The tours to the temples were absolutely fantastic. Our guide was Mahmoud, who happens to be an Egyptologist, and he shared a lot of information, and explained the history behind the temples and sites. I cannot commend him enough. The visit to the Nubian village was also a great experience. Not many people took part, maybe because you have to pay extra, but it’s definitely worth it. Our guide was Samuel, an old local man, and he took us for a swim in the Nile, to a market, a local school, a small restaurant where we tried local dishes and got to pet a baby crocodile. You finish your trip at sunset, which is just magical. We were lucky that our hot air balloon trip was allowed (it depends on the wind forecast) and that was a beautiful experience, in spite of the 4am start. This trip is ideal for those interested in Egyptian culture and history, not so much if you’re looking for your typical cruise. It’s a 5 star tour, in a 3 star boat.

  Our guide Mahmoud was an amazing guide. His knowledge of the sites was top notch and he was funny in top of it. the sites were amazing and one of a kind. the boat was a fun place to relax after a long day of adventures. I would highly recommend this tour for people traveling to Egypt

  Our guide Muhammad was absolutely fantastic 👏 His knowledge of all the sights was quite amazing. He made sure everyone in the group was okay at all times. He was very caring man and welcomed questions from anyone at any time. He kept to the schedule extremely well but ensuring that we saw everything possible. I would very much recommend if you are able to have Muhammad as your guide jump at the chance. John

  Trip of a lifetime. If you want to see Abu Simbel, Valley of the Kings, Edfu, Karnak and Luxor temples and have a balloon ride in a short time. This trip is for you. Early starts, cruising the Nile and the best Egyptologist as a guide - Mohamed Gonran - full of great information and a lot of free time at each site. Do It! Cruise and accomodation were great and some time to relax in the sun. Pool was 1.5m deep, room was spacious and drinks were not too expensive. The food on the cruise and the whole experience exceeded our expectations.

  Our cruise was cancelled the day before the scheduled day which almost ruined our Egypt vacation. Luckily for us we had booked an extra day in Luxor so we were able to book on the cruise leaving the next day and still catch our plane home. The cancellation and rebooking experience was an unwelcome experience but from then on the cruise exceeded our expectations. The pick up from our hotel was smooth and we were greeted at the boat by the very friendly and welcoming Mohamed Gobran, our guide for the cruise. Mohamed was gentle mannered and reassured us that he would ensure we made it to Luxor airport at the end of the trip in time for our 3pm flight. He delivered on this promise by arranging for our bags to be on our transport when we returned from our balloon/Valley of the Kings excursion so that we could be taken straight to the airport. I’d read negative reviews about the quality of the cruise boat but I was very relieved to find our boat (Lady Carol) was very good. Much better than the other boats we saw when we had to walk across them to get to our boat. All the staff on the boat were exceptionally friendly - Restaurant staff, Romany and Alla, always greeted me on first name terms with a big smile and provided excellent service during meal times. Food was good. Mohamed was very efficient at handling everyone’s needs and I liked the way he took the hassle out of buying entrance tickets to the sights by collecting money up front and purchasing our tickets for us. We also paid him money to cover all tips to boat staff, drivers for all transport and other guides which probably saved us a lot of money and avoided the hassle of being badgered for tips all the time. This is a full on tour with early starts (4am every morning!) so it is not for those who want to relax around the pool for large parts of the day but this suited us perfectly as I like to get out seeing as much of the place as I can. The tours were expertly organised by Mohamed who has an encyclopaedic knowledge of Egyptian history and all of the temples we visited. (He studied Egyptian history for four years so he knows his stuff!). The early 4.15am start to make the 4 hour drive to Abel Simbel was well worth it - my favourite temple by far so don’t be put off by the long journey - the minibuses that took us there were very comfortable and air conditioned. We were fortunate that weather conditions allowed us to take the balloon ride on our last day - another early start but seeing the sunrise over the Valley of the Kings and the Nile from a hot air balloon was amazing. Again it was expertly organised and ran very smoothly. Mohamed kept us informed on a regular basis through WhatsApp of all the activities for the day ahead and was always calm, composed and in control of everything throughout. He really made the trip a memorable experience and because of him I came away knowing so much about Egyptian history. He also gave us lots of useful tips along the way which were very helpful. So after a very worrying start with the cancellation issue this cruise delivered everything I wanted and some more.
