  Spent 5 days in East Java experiencing Malang, Tumpak Sewu waterfall, Mt Bromo sunrise and crater, Mt Ijen crater hike. Cheapbromo is responsive in helping us plan the days. Our guide, Rico, makes all the difference, gave us a great and enjoyable trip. Rico is patience, knowledgeable, professional and caring, took great care of us throughout our journey. Special shoutout to our driver, Tobi, brought us to all the places safely and timely. • More than a tour — a journey with friends!

  I recently completed the 4D3N Bromo, Ijen, and Tumpak Sewu Waterfall tour with my travel buddy, and it was an experience I will never forget. While I’ve visited Indonesia before, this was my first trip across Java island, and our driver, Hasan, and our guide, Riza, welcomed us to East Java with open arms and hospitality unlike any other. It was my friend’s first time ever in Indonesia, and I am certain this team left a wonderful impression on him. I have never trusted a driver more than I trusted Hasan. He was not only professional and safe, but both he and Riza were fluent in English, making communication completely seamless. Upon realizing I speak Malay, Riza quickly made me feel comfortable using it with him, which added a great personal touch. It’s also worth mentioning that Riza is a polyglot who speaks Dutch and is actively learning several other languages; he is clearly an open-minded, creative individual who is deeply passionate about his work. Beyond the itinerary, they were excellent at knowing the best local food spots, and with many of our meals already covered in the package, we never had to worry about a thing—every meal was a delight. We had a great start to the trip with a visit to Kampong Warna-Warni immediately after pickup, and we were incredibly lucky to be among the first guests at the newly expanded Manis ae Hotel, which offered breathtaking views near Bromo. Riza’s kindness really stood out. When I struggled with the challenging hike up Ijen—as I am neither a seasoned hiker nor particularly fit—Riza took such excellent care of me. It was unexpectedly cold in the mountains, and he even offered his own sarong to be worn around my neck as a scarf. It was a heartwarming, considerate gesture he didn’t have to do, but it made all the difference. We were also joined by Riko at the waterfall, a young, energetic local who lives near the site. Both Riza and Riko went above and beyond, acting as our personal photographers and videographers to ensure we captured every moment. A quick heads-up for future travelers: this itinerary is intense, involving different hotels each night. As someone from a small island city who isn't accustomed to long back-to-back car commutes or wee-hour wake-up calls, I found it physically exhausting. However, I can honestly say it was truly worth it. The team was consistently punctual yet flexible, constantly ensuring we were hydrated with plenty of bottled water. It was the small, thoughtful details—like Hasan and Riza always opening and closing the car doors—that impressed us most. It honestly felt like we were traveling with friends rather than just service providers. If you are looking for a smooth, caring, and memorable adventure, I cannot recommend this team enough!

  Amazing 4 day 3 night tour with our guide Riza and driver Hasan! We did the option starting from Yogyakarta, and then visiting the Rainbow Village, Tumpak Sewu, Mount Bromo and Mount Ijen. It was so well organised from start to finish. Everything ran smoothly, accommodation and meals were great, and the sites we visited were spectacular. Riza was a fantastic guide, sharing his local knowledge and experience of Indonesia with us, plus his amazing photography skills! The local guides we had at Mount Ijen and Tumpak Sewu were also amazing. Our driver Hasan did a fantastic job of navigating the busy roads and getting us everywhere safely and on time. Highly recommend using Cheap Bromo for any tours you might be considering in Java, Indonesia.

  What an amazing experience! We did the 4D3N Mt. Bromo tour with Cheap Bromo and everything exceeded our expectations. The entire trip was organized flawlessly. Huge thanks to our guide, Rico, who was fantastic —very friendly, knowledgeable, and always going above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. Our driver, Anang, was excellent as well, navigating the roads safely and smoothly throughout the trip. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and would highly recommend Cheap Bromo, Rico and Anang to anyone looking for an unforgettable Mt. Bromo adventure!

  From communication beforehand to the actual tour itself, our experience with Cheap Bromo was fantastic. I had contacted a few companies to do this tour, and Hamzah was the only one who actually answered my questions in detail instead of sending back pre-written copy that had nothing to do with what I asked. He was always quick to respond both over email and Whatsapp. I also really appreciate his honesty with the situation at Ijen with the blue fire, and I'm glad we had the choice beforehand to rearrange our schedule so that we weren't hiking with the crowds at midnight for nothing (i.e. just to see a small sample of the flame made by the guide). The guide assigned to us was the boundless Baroni, whose positivity, energy, and passion for the area was infectious. His humour, helpfulness, friendliness, and easygoing nature really made the tour extra enjoyable, and his photography/videography skills helped capture moments that we might not have captured otherwise. He took us to a quiet, postcard-picture-perfect spot to watch the sunrise at Bromo (only another Cheap Bromo group was there, everyone else was below us), which made the experience really special and lovely. It really felt like having our own little genie who did everything he could to please us, from taking us to a bakso place (my friend's favourite meal of the trip), to helping me procure ginger coffee for my mom. And when I felt nauseous from the car ride to Ijen, he thoughtfully brought me some magical Indonesian herbal remedy that made me feel better instantly (my friend bought boxes of it later on haha). Thank you for being my porter, my karaoke partner, and my meat shield, Baroni! :D Also note that Cheap Bromo includes a few lunches with this tour (other ones we looked at only included breakfasts, which were actually via the accommodation so not really an extra).   The trip with Cheap Bromo was a fantastic experience from tour booking to the trip itself. This is made possible by the great people facilitating the trip. Hamzah, the tour reservation agent, was responsive to our questions and flexibly rearranged the itinerary in response to constraints. Tour guide, Elshar, took great care of us throughout the trip. For the sunrise hike up King Kong Hill, Elshar led us at a comfortable pace to a spot away from the crowd to capture and witness the sunrise views over Bromo, Batok and Semeru. Along the way, he also pointed out the Milky Way, and it was picture galore and a feast for the eyes right from the start of the trip. A great photographer, Elshar identified good spots for us to take photos against the majestic Tumpak Sewu waterfalls. By the time we started our hike at Ijen, Elshar already knew our hiking pace very well, and he led us on an unhurried pace and well-timed hike up Ijen and down the crater to witness the blue fire and up the crater to the summit in time for the gorgeous sunrise view. Driver Agus expertly navigated the roads, and we could sleep very well in his vehicle to arrive at the destination well rested and ready to hike. Kudos to Hamzah, Elshar and Agus, for an unforgettable experience. Especially to Elshar, we met you as complete strangers but we left as friends, having bonded over durians, mangosteens, stories and jokes. Thank you for sharing your knowledge of the history, rituals and culture with us which deepened our appreciation of Surabaya.

  We had a great time with Melati as our guide and Johannes as our driver. Everything went wonderfully, we were very well taken care of at all times, and no wishes were left unfulfilled. We saw, learned, and laughed so much. We can only recommend going on a tour with Melati. She is a gem!

  We booked this trip with Melati as a German-speaking guide, without having informed myself in detail beforehand about what to expect. But these days exceeded all my expectations. Four packed days with not much sleep and such extraordinary, even emotional impressions of the magnificent landscape. Especially Bromo and Ijen were almost cloudless. And the wonderful sense of community with Melati and all the drivers - almost like a family. Everything was perfectly organized and very open to personal topics - it couldn't have been better.
