See, hear, smell, touch and taste on this full-day shore excursion from Tauranga. Experience the unique and special natural beauty of The Bay of Plenty. You will visit some out of the way spots that not everyone knows about and will go where the big buses don't. This tour is not a shuttle and will not drop you off anywhere to explore on your own. It is a fully guided small-group tour with a knowledgeable, fun and friendly tour guide. Along the way you will see and learn about the uniqueness that is New Zealand and you will learn about the geothermal region of Rotorua and its significance to the Maori people. We do not visit the commercial geothermal reserves on this tour, but we do see boiling mud pools, crystal clear bubbling hot springs, volcanic lakes and picturesque forests.
Please note that the ticket sent to you by Viator/TripAdvisor will show the standard tour departure time, we will advise an updated time when you book the tour which may be different, this is the one to use.

We booked this expecting less time in the van and more time walking seeing sights. Timeline is accurate but not having mapped it out, we didn't realize it's mainly a driving tour. Redwood Forest Walk is highlight of tour. It's a blast, so peaceful in the forest, the redwoods are majestic, the bridges easy to traverse. Putting our feet in the hot springs of Kuirau Park was nice. The countryside is lovely. We stopped @ a kiwi farm for a few minutes which was interesting. They should either pay to go into the native Maori village Whakarewarea or skip it as we stood around a long while waiting for paid tours to move on & lunch to be ready. Lunch was uninspiring & we won't be seeking out hangi, bland & dry. This is a long tour, 6.5 hours for us. Our driver/guide Brian was knowledgeable, witty, and attentive. Because he has so much to share he does so nearly the entire time. Our group of 16 would've been fine without knowing every fact of Tauranga & area.

enjoyed all the sights especially Māori visit and lunch. The tour could have been shortened as multiple stops including lunch were too long Guide was great but talked too much

Really nice tour, excellent guide, we visited several places for thermal hot springs, had a nice lunch in Maori village, looked around the village a bit, stopped at the beautiful lake (caldera) and visited the redwoods (walked in tree tops), and stopped at a kiwi farm, a lot to see in one day!

Our tour guide, Simon, gave us an education on all aspects of the area. This was my first time in New Zealand and I feel I have a better understanding of the land and its people. It was the best tour of our entire trip.

Excellant Tour. Lots of history and information regarding the area. Simon.was a great tour guide with heaps of knowledge and enthusiasm. Only small negative was not enough time spent seeing the geothermal areas. Great tour and value for money.
