Machame Route is also known as the “Whiskey” route. It is the second most popular and one of the most scenic routes on the mountain. All climbers sleep in tents (tents are included) and meals are served in a dinner tent or on a blanket outside.
It is done over 7 days, so acclimatization is easier, and the success rate is fairly high. It is for physically fit people with some hiking experience.

Drive to Machame gate the first day of 7 Days Machame route, after registration you begin your climb. Today is a nice leisurely hike through the tropical rain forest. As you pass through the rainforest, you are likely to spot colobus monkeys and wild birds. Dinner and Overnight at Machame camp.

From the Machame Hut, you cross the stream onto its west bank and follow the path up the steep rocky ridge – criss-crossing a few times before reaching Shira camp, at the base of a semi-circular wall of rocks. Dinner and overnight at Shira camp.

From Barranco camp, you climb up through the edge of great Barranco Wall. It’s a tough morning climb on a steep trail, but once you reach the top, the views are very rewarding. Dinner and overnight at Karanga camp.

Today is a shorter climb than the past few days, hiking up to the final camp before your last ascent day to the summit. You must get lots of rest as you will need all your energy for the climb to the roof of africa. Dinner and over night at Barafu camp.

You will start trekking early just after midnight, as the walk today will take 10 – 14 + hours. The 1,100-meter (3,600’) ascent in just over 3 km (1.86 miles) will take us about 6-8 hours, as you try to reach the summit to watch the sunrise over the Great Rift Valley. After watching the sunrise and taking enough pictures, you then start descending down the mountain to below the tree line. Dinner and overnight at Mweka Camp

5.00We booked our 7 days kilimanjaro climbing via Lemosho Route. Everything was well organised and our guide Mr Josia helped us to reach to the top easily and safely. Kitau's team made sure we had quality tents, enough foods on the mountain and the caring crew. We reached to the top on day 6. They also helped us to rents all the gears for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro Highly recommending this company for mountain hiking.

5.00We Did 7 days Machame Route with them and everything was well planned, Clean Gears, Tents, delicious food and great team. Our guide and crews was very polite, friendly and caring. We had doubts before we started the trekking but once we reached to the Machame gate we realized we were lucky enough to have Kitau’s Team on the trekking. Thank you so much.

5.00Kitau tanzania safaris arrangements were perfect, starting intent lodges with wildlife all around us, progressively more luxurious. My daughter’s 18th birthday occurred on the trip. Spending the full day in the crater with the herd of elephants close to our jeep was the most amazing experience we saw Hyenas We spotted Rhinos. Having the right guide and driver with you, who was Jordan all along with his knowledge of wildlife had me on extreme wanting to know more. making us want to add more days on our safari but we agreed on a short sweet which we had. all I can say is the safari was an amazing and a learning trip for my daughter as well and thanks to the team making my daughter’s birthday cake. We enjoyed the food from the start to last the picnic lunches are at their best This was a trip of a lifetime! Safari was on a bucket list for us, we had high expectations and kitautanzaniasafaris delivered. I would recommend them to anyone looking to do a safari in Tanzania and would happily book with them again if given the chance.
