Taking off from the Alaska Glacier Lodge in the Mat-Su Valley to the Knik Glacier (5 miles wide by 29 miles long!). We land right in the middle of the Knik Glacier, where you can get out of the helicopter and spend about 30 minutes on ice thousands of years old with your pilot/guide. We provide ice spikes for you to safely hike on the ice Take pictures of the blue lakes on top of the glacier, crevasses and ice ‘sculptures’ made by wind, sunshine & time. (Summer)

**WINTER TOURS (Oct-April) please note that this tour in some winter months may not land directly on top of the glacier due to snow cover and safety issues, landing may be on the side next to incredible deep blue ice formations**

Total tour time 1 hour includes 30 mins for round trip flightseeing

CHECK IN 45 mins PRIOR TO DEPARTURE IS REQUIRED - please check departure address to plan accordingly. Late check in can result in a shortened or cancelled tour with no refund

Guests 300lbs or over require our Astar Helicopter to fly. This is not available for every time/day.Please call direct to assure we have that helicopter available to accommodate prior to booking.

Alaska Helicopter Tours has Robinson 44s and ASTAR helicopters. We never guarantee the type of helicopter you will be flying in unless a private helicopter option is purchased. Parties with multiple separate bookings, or parties over 2 passengers may be in 2 helicopters, but will always be together for the tour.

What an amazing and wonderful adventure. We make 3-landings: one by the lake, one on top of a mountain, and one on the glacier. The one on the glacier was spectacular. We drank glacier water. It was overcast so the pools of water we saw and the glacier itself had a blue cast to it. We also saw a herd of wild sheep during the flight. Our pilot was Aron. He was an excellent pilot as we experienced strong winds and rain on our tour. He was also very knowledgeable about the Knik and Colony Glaciers as well as glaciers in general. He was alsoknowledgable about the animals and surrounding area.

We toured with Alec and had another person just riding along and they were both super cool and told us a lot about the glaciers and mountains. We also saw some moose/goats along the mountains on the way there and back. One of the best experiences ive ever had in my life! Definitely reccomend!

I truly never write reviews but this was one of the best experiences of my entire life. From start to finish the process was so easy, booked online about two weeks before date (feel like only possible cause it's winter time). Front desk was so helpful and kind. Matthias, our helicopter pilot, was so knowledgeable and kind, answered all my questions. I can't wait to bring my family and friends back! One hour definitely goes by quickly, so can't wait to do a longer one someday!!

Absolutely fantastic! Their team, Dylan, Sam, & Crystal really made this trip fun, exciting, and informative, with a lot of laughs! Being on the glacier is worth it but their team really made our trip way more than we expected! We have been residents since 2014 and we’ve gone on a lot of excursions in Alaska including riding our wheelers to the Knik on our own. I didn’t expect to be wowed very much because this was my 3rd helicopter ride overall and my 2nd trip to the Knik. But the trip was absolutely fantastic! We were face to face and hands on with some of the most beautiful terrain I’ve ever seen & I have traveled a lot. Our pilots pointed out wildlife and showed us more landscape than just the glacier. I was in Dylan’s helicopter and he is an excellent pilot. I battle with motion sickness but his flying, takeoff, & landing was so smooth I didn’t get nauseous once! I also really appreciated the decor and cleanliness of the office, the condition of the helicopters & the grounds. Everything was spotless! This is an excellent team and their appearance and the condition of their office and their professionalism really show it. 10 out of 10, absolutely recommend and would go again! Plan extra time the drive to the helipad, it’s gorgeous!
I was able to get on a last minute ride late afternoon and they were very accommodating. Friendly staff Professional.

The staff was incredibly friendly, and the scenery was absolutely stunning. There were just two of us along with the pilot, which made the experience feel very personal. The day was crystal clear, allowing us to see the mountains stretching far into the distance. The pilot even guided us on a walk across the glacier, making it an unforgettable adventure.

Layer up if taking a winter season tour. Make sure electronics are charged up for documenting. Smooth ride with the beautiful blue skies and we’re fortunate to find a couple moose hanging.
