5.00Carlos was our tour guide and he was great. He took a personal interest in each of us and was so knowledgeable about the history of the Alhambra. We learned a lot from him and he made the whole experience very enjoyable.
An Excellent Way to See Alhambra

5.00We took the tour at the beginning of high season on a Saturday, and our guide Felipe kept us together--managing both the explanations and attending to the different needs within the group. Alhambra is an amazing place, rich in history and a range of cultures. Felipe provided clear explanations and was attentive to taking us to preferred viewing angles both within and from Alhambra. Being with a good guide is essential given the size and complexity of the location. The tour itself takes about 3 hours with a brief rest break at roughly the midpoint. You will then be able to return on your own to any places of special interest. The museums within the Carlos V palace do not require additional tickets or fees, and are well worth the time to include them. A few key points about the tour--especially for those not accustomed to reading the "fine print" on tour confirmations: (1) Take seriously the note in the description that the meeting time of the group is subject to change. Our time was moved from noon to 10:00 am on about 24-hours notice. (2) Both the ticket exchange and the meeting place are at Granavision's own Welcome Center (and not the welcome center and ticket office for Alhambra itself). Be sure to use the address in the tour confirmation. (3) All group tours in Alhambra must use audio assist devices (you will be thankful), so bring some standard, cabled, in-ear headphones with you. If you don't have them, they will be available at the Granavision Welcome Center for a small additional fee. (4) You must have your actual passport (or Spanish national ID) with you. It will be scanned at entry, several internal points, and exit from Alhambra.
