Alice Springs Desert Park
Your essential introduction to Central Australian starts with a self guided visit of Alice Springs Desert Park. On arrival, receive a park map and daily program. Stories are shared through interpretative displays and daily guide presentations, many by Central Australian Aboriginal people. Meticulously re-created desert habitats allow visitors to experience desert life as it really is, every day, at their own pace. Highlights include interactive guide presentations, botanical displays, a free flying bird show and the opportunity to see endangered animals in the Nocturnal House. Facilities include a café, electric scooters for hire, gift shop and a picnic/BBQ ground. Enjoy an authentic desert experience and discover how deserts are full of life.

5.00This became my favourite place when visiting Alice Springs! I found it very easy to walk around, and loved seeing the bird show, the emu, and the aviaries of beautiful birds. I was also lucky enough to see a wild perentie lizard. The nocturnal house is amazing, as are all the talks with the knowledgeable guides. I was lucky enough to do a Dusk tour as part of Parrtjima with the lovely Ann who I enjoyed hearing and learning from about the country and culture here. Highly recommend if you're a nature fan, and enjoy gardens, aviaries, animals, and learning.

5.00An excellent desert park set out over a large area making it feel like you are really in the bush. The bird Avery’s are large and it’s wonderful to walk through and see the birds. The nocturne house is excellent and highly maintained. While we were there we saw the rangers cleaning and checking on the habitat. The bird show is the best. The birds are wild but know when the rangers have food. Great interpretation from the ranger on the types of. It’s and their natural feeding habits. The Survival in the desert show was very informative and lots of fun. The guide explained in detail about language culture, food and survival of the indigenous mobs in the Alice Springs region. There are other items on the program we didn’t get to do but all looked very interesting. Well worth the visit.

5.00The park was an eye opener to the flora & fauna of the desert. We enjoyed the walk around exploring tge different exhibits, taking part in presentations and learning about the unique environment that is the Australian desert system.

5.00We spent the day here as haven’t visited before. The exhibitions were great. We spent time with Jeromy who was wonderful in explaining the indigenous bushcraft. The walking tracks were easy to navigate. Stopped for lunch at the cafe, although a little pricey, the food was great. Well worth the money and a day well spent.

5.00LTTS recommended I visit the Desert Park to learn about the local flora and fauna before I walked the Larapinta Trail. I was so impressed with this park, it was amazing. The birds and reptiles was really impressive. The cafe there was nice too.

5.00Very educational. The exhibits were well presented and a nice easy walk between them. We caught the indigenous food talk hosted Jeromy. He did a great job of immersing us into his culture. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Alice.
