Auckland’s Wild West Coast Tour, this small group, fully-guided day trip combines the best the west coast of Auckland has to offer. Itinerary:
1. Auckland Sky Tower – Departing from the famous landmark of the Auckland Sky Tower, our west coast adventure begins with a guided tour out of the city centre over the famous Harbour Bridge to Auckland’s North Shore. We then head west towards the affluent areas of Coatesville, Kumeu & Riverhead. While on this journey our guides will point out all the main attractions and tell stories about the area along the way.
2. Hallertau Brewery - Arriving at the craft beer brewery Hallertau, you will be treated to a delicious lunch of your choice from a special set menu. Following lunch we have the opportunity to taste some of Hallertau’s winning craft beers before continuing our day.
3. Muriwai Beach - A short drive from the brewery we arrive at the wild west coast black sand beach of Muriwai. Exploring this area, you will be amazed by the rugged coastline, unique black sand and the feel of raw natural power that surrounds the area.
4. Muriwai Gannet Colony – Walking up the hill from the beach not only will you be treated to amazing views but also have the chance to see the largest mainland gannet colony in the North Island. Getting this close to these impressive ocean mastering birds is a special experience. (Bird numbers vary at different times of the year).
5. Devonport & North Head – Crossing the harbour again, we head to the charming seaside suburb of Devonport. Here, we take a scenic drive to the top of North Head, a historic volcanic cone with sweeping views of the Hauraki Gulf and city skyline. Learn about its fascinating military tunnels and coastal defence history as you explore this unique vantage point.
6. Auckland City – After a great afternoon exploring Auckland’s West Coast and North Shore, it’s time to return to the city. You can choose to take the scenic ferry ride back across the harbour from Devonport to the city, or enjoy a fully guided drive with drop-offs at central locations and hotels.

5.00Very intresting day. Super knowledgeable guide, Dave who had great help from another guide Sam . We had a very nice lunch at Hallertau Brewery and a great tour with many informations and good advice from Dave regarding our continious journey in NZ. We wouldn't hesitate to use Cheeky Travels again!

5.00The guide made the tour better with his commentary and insights. It was a rainy and windy day, but the gannet colony and scenery were beautiful. Lunch was average.

5.00I can't image a better tour to get a flavor of the Auckland area. We had lots of rain and they did a great job and we hardly noticed the rain

4.00This was an enjoyable, relaxing day. Ben was our driver/guide who was engaged, positive and informative from start to finish. Unrushed. Great Brewery stop prepared for our lunch with a better than expected food and beverage choice efficiently presented and served. Very nice atmosphere which I would return to on our own. The views were fantastic throughout and does require a reasonable degree of fitness with steep inclines at times. The van was suitable for comfort and the group was varied and interesting in there own right.

5.00Had an amazing day trip to Muriwai Beach with our guide Jeoff. It was very well organised, and we learned a lot about New Zealand. The gannet colony was absolutely stunning to see up close, the whole area was beautiful. Lunch was great, and the view from North Head was incredible. A perfect adventure!
