Auckland’s Wild West Coast Tour, this small group, fully-guided day trip combines the best the west coast of Auckland has to offer. Done jointly with our Auckland Highlights Tour makes the ultimate Auckland experience. Itinerary:
1. Auckland Sky Tower – Departing from the famous landmark of the Auckland Sky Tower, our west coast adventure begins with a guided tour out of the city centre over the famous Harbour Bridge to Auckland’s North Shore. We then head west towards the affluent areas of Coatesville, Kumeu & Riverhead. While on this journey our guides will point out all the main attractions and tell stories about the area along the way.
2. Hallertau Brewery - Arriving at the craft beer brewery Hallertau, you will be treated to a delicious lunch of your choice from a special set menu. Following lunch we have the opportunity to taste some of Hallertau’s winning craft beers before continuing our day.
3. Muriwai Beach - A short drive from the brewery we arrive at the wild west coast black sand beach of Muriwai. Exploring this area, you will be amazed by the rugged coastline, unique black sand and the feel of raw natural power that surrounds the area.
4. Muriwai Gannet Colony – Walking up the hill from the beach not only will you be treated to amazing views but also have the chance to see the largest mainland gannet colony in the North Island. Getting this close to these impressive ocean mastering birds is a special experience. (Bird numbers vary at different times of the year).
5. Devonport & North Head – Crossing the harbour again, we head to the charming seaside suburb of Devonport. Here, we take a scenic drive to the top of North Head, a historic volcanic cone with sweeping views of the Hauraki Gulf and city skyline. Learn about its fascinating military tunnels and coastal defence history as you explore this unique vantage point.
6. Auckland City – After a great afternoon exploring Auckland’s West Coast and North Shore, it’s time to return to the city. You can choose to take the scenic ferry ride back across the harbour from Devonport to the city, or enjoy a fully guided drive with drop-offs at central locations and hotels.

5.00The beach was fantastic, sand unbelievable with spectacular waves . The weather made it even better. Took the paths to see up close of the birds and greenery, definitely an amazing place.

5.00This was a splendid afternoon tour to some exquisite beaches and coastline. The gannet colony is brilliant. Lunch at the German brewery was good. Simon’s commentary was informative and enthusiastic, but not overdone as some Guides can be. Highly recommended.

3.00Tour driver Matt was a very nice person, but the tour was quite boring. We were expecting more interaction and details provided about the places we drove through and visited. The brewery lunch was also mediocre. The beer, which was not included in the price, was good though.

5.00Fantastic day out! The Hallertau Brewery lunch was delicious, and the tour itself was the perfect way to see the West Coast. Muriwai’s black sand beach and the gannets were the clear highlights for me. Everything was well-organized and our guide was very knowledgeable. 10/10!

5.00Ben, our driver/tour guide was great. THe Mercedes van he picked us up with was roomy and very comfortable. Ben had lots of great stories and information about NZ and clearly loves his job. The brewery lunch was fun and the drive there was very pretty. The Gannet Colony was amazing and the area is beautiful. DEvonport and North Head were great and also provided a lot of history of the area and amazing views back to Auckland. Highly recommend
