Lion’s Head is a free-standing peak located next to Table Mountain, with a height of 669m above sea level. The route spirals all the way around to give you 360-degree panoramic views. The views include Table Mountain, Devil’s Peak, Robben Island, Table Bay, Camps Bay and the city. There are some ladders, chains and staples to negotiate, which adds to the sense of adventure. It also serves as a great alternative for when Table Mountain is covered in cloud. This route is especially popular to do for sunrise.

We went for sunrise up on Lions head. First of all, all communication with OTC was perfect. Kathy our guide was super, she was on time, she was friendly and was packed full of information, we learnt alot. All in all it was a great experience

I have been hiking on Cape Town for over 15 years. The last 8 I have always been guided by Lynette from OTC Adventures. Lynette is the most professional and knowledgeable guide I have come across. I always recommend her to anyone visiting Cape Town. In addition to brilliant and varied hikes Lynette has organised and run cultural trips when I have had business groups over visiting the South African agricultural industry. You will not find better than Lynette.

Lynette is an amazing guide with exceptional experience & abundance of knowledge about flora, fauna & the history of Cape Town. Lynette paced the hike to suit us & made it achievable. This is a must do hike if you’re in Cape Town!

Lynette was a fantastic guide. We did the sunrise lions head hike with her. I (24F) travelled with my 17 year old sister so having a guide who made us feel safe, especially hiking in the dark, was very important. Lynette was very kind and experienced and ensured we were safe the whole route. We got a fantastic view at the top and enjoyed it thoroughly. Thank you!

What a brilliant trip! Lynette was so calm and patient and knew exactly what she was doing. Very knowledgeable and she was great company on a must do/see adventure. The sunrise was just exquisite. Couldn't recommend higher.

Our sunrise hike up Lion's Head with Lynette was truly magical! Starting in the pre-dawn glow, the trail offered a thrilling adventure with ladders and chains, leading to the most breathtaking 360-degree views of Cape Town. As the sun rose over Table Mountain and the city, the scenery was absolutely unforgettable. Lynette’s expertise and warm personality made the hike even more enjoyable—she shared fascinating stories and ensured we both felt safe. Lynette is the absolute best tour guide! Highly recommended. Super interesting insights during the hike. We felt mega safe and she certainly led us up the mountain and especially down again. She also had really interesting info about other activities and was very helpful :)

A great private hike experience

I wanted to go only part of the way up Lions Head as I am not good with heights, so I booked a private guide. Lynette suggested I walk around the base with my guide, Barry, but once we got closer, he believed I could walk to the top as I was doing okay with the height so far, and I made it to the top. Barry was great—he knew about the birds and wildlife and guided me through the walk. I certainly wouldn't have made it to the top without Barry.

Lynette is very responsive from the moment I booked this tour like a month prior. She explains every detail carefully and patiently. A few days before the hike, she also text us to make sure we know where and when to meet. On the actual day, Lynette is punctual. She is so friendly and takes good care of the team. Although we gave up midway and did not go to the top due to the steep terrain, and we was afraid of the heights, we still had a very good hike and the view even from midway were spectacular. Lynette make sure that we were ok waiting while the she bring the rest up to the top. She even share a list of restaurants which she thinks we can go try. Lynette is great! As for the hike route, it is quite challenging for us due to our fear of height. Otherwise, we could see many others, young and old, were able to continue this hike.
