The Islamic version is related in Surah (Chapter) Al-Kahf (18, "The Cave"), of the Qur'an. During the time of the Prophet Muhammad, the Jews of Medina challenged him to tell them the story of the sleepers knowing that none of the Arabs knew about it. According to tradition, God then sent the angel Gabriel (or Jibreel) to reveal the story to him through Surah Al-Kahf. After hearing it from him, the Jews confirmed that he told the same story they knew.

The Cave of the Seven Sleepers (Ashabul Kahf)
Then, drive 20 minutes to the most popular attraction outside of Amman, known as the Ka'f Al-Raqim, also referred to as the Cave of the Seven Sleepers. Mentioned in the Holy Qur'an in a Sura named Al-Kahf (The Cave), it is located outside the village of Al-Raqim, 10 km east of Amman. Persecuted by the despotic rule of Trajan for monotheism, a group of pious youths took refuge in this cave. To preserve them, Allah put them to sleep, and when they revived 300 years later (309 lunar years, as mentioned in the Holy Qur'an), they thought they had only been asleep for a day or so. Christianity was widespread by then, and when they were discovered, Allah put them to rest forever. At the cave, Byzantine and Roman ruins still stand, as well as a mosque, which exactly matches the descriptions in the Holy Qur'an.
Grand Husseini Mosque
The Grand Husseini Mosque is a prominent landmark and one of the oldest mosques in Amman, Jordan. Its history and significance are deeply intertwined with the city's past and present. The original mosque on this site was built in 640 AD by Omar ibn Al-Khattab, the second Caliph of Islam. It is believed to have been constructed on the site of a former Byzantine basilica. The current Ottoman-style mosque was rebuilt in 1924 by the late King Abdullah I and named in honor of his father, Sharif Hussein bin Ali, the leader of the Great Arab Revolt. The mosque has undergone several renovations and expansions over the years, including one in the 1980s and another following a fire in 2019. The Grand Husseini Mosque is not only a place of worship but also a major cultural and historical landmark in Amman. The mosque is a testament to the city's rich heritage and a symbol of its deep-rooted connection to Islam.

5.00I had an incredible time during my tour! We only had a a limited time to tour Islamic sites in Jordan and tour guide Shadi created a great itinerary for us so we could see as much as possible at our own pace. The car was very spacious and comfortable. I really appreciated how flexible and friendly Shadi was, it made our time in Jordan really enjoyable and memorable for my family!

A great place to explore the country’s cultural heritage. Mosques in Amman Amman’s mosques are a blend of history and spirituality. King Abdullah I Mosque stands out with its striking blue dome and peaceful ambiance. Abu Darwish Mosque, with its unique black-and-white stone design, offers a distinct architectural charm. Each mosque carries its own beauty, making them worth visiting for both worship and admiration. Amman Citadel A breathtaking hilltop site with panoramic views of Amman. Rich in history, featuring the Temple of Hercules, Umayyad Palace, and ancient ruins. The museum on-site adds depth to the visit. A must-see for history lovers. It was also a great experience to have an awesome, experience and informative driver for our tour. Thumbs Up to Shadi for his splendid services.

5.00This was a wonderful activity to do, especially if you are Muslim and know the significance of the seven sleepers' lives. Adnan our tour guide was so lovely, patient, friendly and went out of his way to make us feel comfortable. He took us for a walk around the markets in Amman and treated us to some delicious kunafeh.

5.00Highly recommend this tour. Our guide Mr Mohammed Bardaghawi was exceptional and made sure to show us all the sites we wanted as well as stopped along the way to show us some great scenery. He was very punctual, friendly and accommodating to our wants!

5.00We were driven to the 3no. castles and the cave in a new, comfy car. All went smoothly. Good driver. It took us 6h in total and we had a great time exploring them. Bring food with you if you need it and if you want to save time as there is a lot of driving time.

5.00What can say, what an experience of a lifetime. One that I will never forget. It was only possible by the amazing brother Mohammed B who was our lovely driver. I will never forget the hospitality, professionalism and the detailed care he went into from turning up prompt on the day and communicating with us the days prior to the excursion. He was very knowledgable and answered all questions relating to the excursion. He provided cold water, Wi-Fi and an excellent, spacious vehicle.He was a great ambassador for his company and Jordanian hospitality and immersed us in true Jordanian culture. My family and I would highly recommended this company for this tour and please ask for Mohammed B as you driver, you won’t be disappointed.
