Join us at our unique Hungarian Chimney Cake Workshop in Budapest Downtown! We are a few minutes away from the most important central sights of Budapest, and guaranteed the best workshop in town!

Our experience takes place in a Hungarian family business, a beautiful and cozy Chimney Cake Shop. We provide a true experience in making the Hungarian/Transylvanian Chimney Cake - which traditionally is called Kürtőskalács.

The Kürtőskalács is a Hungaricum, and we are proud to share the secrets of making this simple dessert with our guests from around the world.

Join us to add some extra sweetness to your time in Budapest, and let us all connect at our chimney cake workshop! A travel experience that both kids and adults will enjoy!

Chimney Cakes are one of the most famous Hungarian desserts/sweet street foods you can easily learn how to make them together with our expert workshop leaders who have years and years of experience in Hungarian Chimney Cake making. Our experience is unique, and the only one in Budapest! Come see our Kürtőskalács laboratory just under the Chimney Cake Shop. Our local experts will explain how the dough is made, and how to work it. You'll be walked through the steps of making a traditional Hungarian Chimney Cake recipe, and you'll learn about all the tricks and tips you must know to make it again at home! We make 3 Kürtőskalács, and we'll also bake them. Once they are ready, our guests can choose from different flavors to roll them into. Usually, the simple sugar, the coconut, and the cinnamon are available. Once everyone is ready with their Chimney Cakes, you'll receive paper bags to take your cakes away with you, and you'll also receive a printed recipe and a certificate from the host! After the Chimney Cake workshop, you can also order a cup of coffee or tea, and enjoy some of your kürtőskalács with it at the tables of the cutest chimney cake shop.

Excellent experience, I thoroughly recommend, it was great fun and a tasty take away too. It was a small shop, tucked away on a street near to St Stephen’s Basilica. The staff were very welcoming and spoke perfect English. We were given expert tuition to create three chimney cakes, and the even shared their own cake when one of the group’s cake fell apart.

very fun, a little kitchy but enjoyable. the experience allows you to make three chimney cakes, and gives you a bag to take them back with you. i enjoyed it and i think others would too.

A lovely workshop learning how to make chimney cake after eating so many on holiday. Granny and the two girls really enjoyed it. Nice and central and close to St Stephen’s Basilica.

Nice classroom setup in basement of s chimney cake store. Made 3 cakes, and each progressively got better in quality. The teacher Tabitha was very knowledgeable and described the process clearly, so was easy to follow her directions. Very fun class!

My husband and I enjoyed the class. We were only there for an hour, but I felt it was plenty of time for fun. We had a wonderful class size. The instructor was great to show us how to improve rolling dough on wooden dowel. The only part to really understand is you are handling melted sugar…so don’t drip it on yourself. We all felt accomplished after making our 3 chimney cakes.

We had a wonderful time making Chimney Cake, a national Hungarian Christmas treat! The instructor was knowledgeable, delightfully funny, and very encouraging. The class was limited to 12 participants, but several did not attend, so we all received a lot of individual attention. My friends and I each made three different types and all were delicious! We would highly recommend everyone visiting the Christmas Markets in Budapest, add this activity to their itinerary. It was an hour well spent!!!

I believe our teachers name was Kate or Katy, but she did a great job teaching us how to make Chimney cakes. I love that we got to make 3, so you could try different flavors and take pictures of your best one. She also offered a few separate times to take pictures, which was sweet.

Very disappointed. Poorly organised, a waste of time and money. Certificates were written half way through the workshop with incorrect dates that were scribbled out looking messy and unprofessional. There was no individual help given and the guide appeared overwhelmed and distracted. Cakes were left in the oven too long and ours were burnt. I was shocked that a small child was allowed to participate given their constant shouting and handling hot equipment. Overall a waste of time and money.
