Borgo Storico di Manarola
Explore Manarola by foot or relax in a cafe or bar. From Manarola enjoy a shared boat ride to Monterosso. The harbor area is filled with colorful rowing boats and becomes the main sunbathing and swimming spot of the village from morning until dusk. In fact, this is the perfect place to spend a lazy day sunbathing and watching people jumping off the cliffs. Although there is no real beach here, it has some of the best deep-water swimming around. Along the main road the boats are pulled onto dry land every time the sea is rough. The village is all ups and downs, with steep narrow alleys carrugi, leading to the sea.
Vernazza
Nestled along the rugged Ligurian coast, Vernazza is a picturesque Cinque Terre village known for its vibrant houses, breathtaking beauty, and UNESCO World Heritage status. With car-free winding streets, a lively harbor, and charming shops, Vernazza offers a delightful experience for visitors. At its heart lies the lively Piazza Marconi and the stunning 14th-century Church of Santa Margherita d'Antiochia. The village boasts scenic hiking trails, such as the famous Sentiero Azzurro, connecting it to neighboring Monterosso al Mare. Vernazza's gastronomic allure lies in its exquisite Ligurian cuisine and locally-produced Cinque Terre white wine.

It is important for older travelers to know that they will be left alone at the last location to navigate the railway by themselves back to LA Spezia. We had an older traveler on our tour who spoke very little English or Italian and this was very challenging. The tour had not been advertised that way.

Cinque Terra is beautiful but I do not recommend this tour. Each town was way too rushed and no time to really explore. Not worth 5 hour round trip van ride. Very chaotic way to travel from town to town.

We had a wonderful day in Cinque Terre with our guide Mario. He was very knowledgeable about the area as he’s originally from Florence. We visited three of the five towns, which seemed perfect as we could spend adequate time at each one. We lucked out with the weather and were able to go on the boat ride, which was very scenic. We had a slight hiccup at the beginning of our tour when the car seat was missing, but Mario was quick to solve the problem and made sure our time on the trip was not shortened. The towns were lovely, and we easily communicated with shop owners and restaurant staff. Overall, we would highly recommend this trip and our guide, Mario, to others.
