Glacier Lagoon

Ice Cave tour: an adventurous trip, off the beaten path, to Vatnajökull, Iceland´s largest glacier. We depart from Jökulsárlón (The Glacier Lagoon) every day at 9:30 am and 2 pm, driving approximately an hour off road to the glacier. During the scenic drive in our special Jeeps, we will see the best of Icelandic highlands. When we arrive at the ice caves, our professional guides will provide you with the right equipment and guide you as we enter the magical ice caves. Meeting point: Jökulsárlón (Glacier Lagoon). We had an incredible tour with an excellent guide. At this time of year, it was just us, another couple, and the guide, which made the experience wonderfully intimate. We spent plenty of time exploring the cave and had ample opportunity to ask all our questions. Often, we found ourselves alone in entire sections of the cave, as our guide skillfully avoided other groups. It was a truly memorable adventure!

We drove 4 hours to get to our tour and were told by another tour company that our tour had been cancelled. No email, phone call or any notification at all and they aren’t answering their phone. EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL
Mass handling for a high price

Far too many people were led through the glacier cave at the same time. The groups stood in queues one behind the other, waiting for it to continue at the front. We had a great guide, but this price is not justified for mass handling.

We hesitated on doing this tour since we knew the ice caves would be melted. We were so wrong!! They were beautiful even in summer, our tour guide Laura was great, she knows very interesting facts about glaciers, crevices, moulins, erosion, etc. My 10 and 14 Year old kids really enjoyed it, they were taught on how to get ground ice with rappelling anchors, and other fun facts about ice caves. Will definitely be doing it again. Totally worth it !

The low rating is only because they are supposed to close at the end of April. The place is very beautiful, the guide is great but the sun is starting to melt the ice

This tour was one of the coolest things we experienced on our trip! Being able to climb inside the glacier into naturally eroded caves was like something out of this world! Definitely worth the cost if you’ve never experience Ice Caves before!

This tour is worth driving 5 hours to experience it! You descend below a glacier into an ice cave. The nature lighting and ice provide for a great experience. I would recommend staying in Vik either the night before or after the tour since you will cover 2.5 hours of the 5 hours back. The ice breaking off the glacier creates a "graveyard" of small icebergs. Worth the trip!
