Fort de Kelibia
The fort is now one of the main tourist attractions in the city of Kelibia. It is a 16th century citadel built on top of a rocky promontory 150 meters high which dominates the Mediterranean Sea and the city of Kelibia in the governorate of Nabeul, on the northeast coast of the Tunisian peninsula of Cape Bon. In its oldest parts, this fortress has Roman components, since the Punic period (3rd century BC) a fort stood at this location. Dismantled by the Romans, a new fortification was erected under the Byzantines which was to be constantly enlarged and altered by its successive occupants, especially in the 16th century when the Ottomans faced repeated assaults by the Spanish. A visit to the fortress is an opportunity to enjoy the magnificent panorama that opens from the top of the ramparts: on a clear day, Sicily is visible offshore.
Ruins of Kerkouane
It is one of the most precious archaeological sites in Tunisia, because the only one, until today, whose foundation dates back to the Punic era - perhaps in the 6th century BC. J-C. - and that the Romans did not rebuild after the annexation of Africa to the Roman Empire, bequeathing us an urban space, that of a small city that has not yet been identified, typically Punic. Apparently abandoned after its destruction by the Roman consul Mr. Atilus Regulus in 256 BC. Before being rediscovered in the early 1950s of the last century, the city had been virtually leveled. But the remains offer us today the plan of a typically Punic city, with the very clear layout of houses equipped with all amenities (baths and ovens included), decorated with pavements of primitive mosaics, one of which depicts the Punic goddess Tanit. A coastal city, Kerkouane has had a port, some sections of which still remain; it was to engage in trade with other Mediterranean ports to which it exported agricultural but also artisanal products, like fabrics dyed in purple, installations for the manufacture of this substance having been discovered near the coast, same as the shops in a shopping district. A museum gathering some objects discovered on the site, was erected at the entrance.

This tour was fantastic. The first stop was Fort Kelibia. The views and history were amazing. Then it was off to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kerkouane and that was a trip back in time. Then we went into an old quarry that was right on the Mediterranean. The whole trip was great. Now, I had the same tour guide for 3 day trips so this next part will be the same on two other reviews. Ghassen was easily one of the best tour guides I’ve ever had. He was always on time and very passionate about Tunisia. He knows the history, culture, science, and more about everything. The whole drive he is telling you about the regions we drove through, the agriculture, the industry, the people, and anything else you can think of. If you book with this company, ask for Ghassen.

My guide was excellent, providing good information and also catering to what I wanted to see. The drive to Cape Bon is a little long, but worth it for the food, for the views, and for the history and the chance to see genuine Punic (rather than Roman) archaeology.

Ghasen Nasri guided us through Cap Bon and it was a great experience. He is very knowledgeable about the area (being raised close to it) and the different archeological and historical sites (having studied archeology). Additionally, he was a very nice man to talk to and was attentive to anything spontaneous we came up with. If anyone is planning to visit Cap Bon, I fully recommend this trip!

Great way to discover Cape Bon! Kerkouane is one of the best places to visit in Tunisia, due to its cultural and historical values. The view of the Mediterranean Sea from the Fort of Kelibia is memorable

An excellent way to discover the superb Cap Bon at its own pace. Wonderful green landscapes, the citadel of Kélibia, the only one in Kerkouane , with plunging views of the sea.

The guide was great! He was super friendly and wanted to make sure we were comfortable and happy throughout the trip. He was also a very careful driver. Although the cost for one person is fair, the the overall cost for two people ends up not being too high. I would suggest giving a 50% discount for each additional person. Also, since lunch is not included, it would be great to provide different options to suit the needs of each customer or to provide the info about which restaurant option (if any) will be included in the trip. Finally, it should be made clear in the description that fees for entrance to the ruins in Kerkouane and other options for museums on the trip are not included. Overall, it is a great trip. I thought it was appropriately named "off the beaten path". You see a lot of great places in Tunisia in one day that would be hard to get to so easily on your own and a lot of driving. My favorite part of the trip was seeing the hot springs. Such a wonderful natural treasure!
