  This experience was a highlight of our time in Queenstown. The steamship ride alone made it worth it. The vessel is beautifully maintained, and the observation deck was such a unique touch. We could look straight down into the engine room, and they even let us step into a small viewing area above the working room for an up close look at the inner mechanics. It was fascinating to see it all in action. Dinner at Walter Peak was delicious. There was a wide variety of dishes, and everything I tried was flavorful and well prepared. It felt like a true feast in a beautiful lakeside setting. The farm show was another standout. We watched a sheep shearing demonstration followed by an impressive display of a short haired border collie rounding up a flock of sheep. It was both entertaining and educational. The steamship ride back to Queenstown was peaceful and relaxing. It was the perfect way to end the evening. Overall, this is a must do experience if you are visiting the area.

  A relaxing evening cruise across the lake to a picture-perfect venue at which we had a sumptuous meal of barbecued meats, fish plus salads, vegetables and more. This was followed by an excellent farm show including sheep shearing and the use of sheepdogs. The return cruise included a singalong around the piano. Overall, a brilliant activity.

  Warning warning. Paid for confirmed booking would not be honoured by operator as it had not been ‘pushed’ through by Viator. We totally missed out. Operator tried to assist but to no avail. Viator did not. Really really really disappointing.

  Our experience with the Real NZ Walter Peak Gourmet BBQ Dining was fantastic from start to finish. The cruise across Lake Wakatipu on the iconic TSS Earnslaw is worth doing in its own right. The journey is relaxed, scenic, and offers breathtaking views in every direction. We enjoyed peaking into the working engine room and browsing through the mini-museum on board the steamship. Walter Peak itself is stunning and incredibly well run. The dinner is a self-serve buffet with an impressive range of options to suit all tastes. The quality of the food genuinely exceeded expectations — everything was fresh, beautifully presented, and plentiful. The dog and sheep herding show at the end was a real highlight — entertaining, authentic, and so much fun to watch. If you’re visiting Queenstown, this is absolutely worth adding to your itinerary.

  Such a great trip. The Steam Ride was wonderful - really rate the sparkling wine sold on board!. The Food at the buffet was the best I have ever eaten. Wonderfully cooked meat - certainly not for you if you are a vegetarian. The sheep shearing was good fun. Its expensive but well worth the trip.

  Smooth steamer trip, absolutely delicious food with so much variety and the shearing demonstration was very interesting. Staff are very helpful and efficient. Well worth it whatever you pay.

  What a well oiled machine! From boarding in Queenstown to walking off the boat back in Queenstown, everything worked beautifully. The cruise up and down the lake is spectacular! The meal and service at the restaurant was sensational, and the show and gardens are unforgettable. It may seem a little pricey, but it’s worth every cent! The food at the BBQ is some of the best BBQ I’ve eaten. A wide selection and all of it cooked to perfection.

  I went with my mom and sister and we had a great time! The boat ride is beautiful! The farm is absolutely stunning and we really enjoyed the food and the farm show. The staff were all very pleasant and fun!
