This private tour is disappointing. I had limited time, therefore I opted to pay more and book a private tour. 1) Moris was a careful driver (that pretty much something positive I can say, really..) I arrived back to the hotel safely. 2) Moris wasn’t helpful as a guide, he left me alone in many the places. He did some guiding and explaining *only* at Haghpat Monastery. 3) I was all alone in all the rest of the stop, mother Armenia, cascade, republic square and Khor Virap. 4) I was forced to walk alone from cascade to republic square and look for him. It was like looking for a needle in a haystack, I walked round and round the square but couldn’t find him (also wasted some time doing it…) Instructions give by Moris was very poor. 5) I thought I was having a private guide with me all the time and I have in-car WiFi, so I thought I didn’t have to buy any internet roaming package for a “day trip”, end of the day I need to buy it because in-car internet wasn’t provided as promised, and Moris left me alone in many places. 6) When asked about bottled water and in-car WiFi, Moris was very defensive and said: “it’s the company’s problem, not mine” (he could have at least confirm with the company - Ushba, instead of having me to call/text Ushba…) 7) Along the way, Moris was showing his displeasure and anger with Ushba and said he didn’t want to take this tour arrangement but the company made him do it unwillingly. That he was “just a freelance guide”. 8) At the end I bought my own bottled water and own internet package, even though it was promised in the package. 9) only saving grace was Ushba quickly tried to rectify the situation, by talking to Moris through my phone, using my data plan. But the milk was spilled. 10) I needed help in translation to order lunch, but I was left alone. I have to figure out the stall and food options and google translate to communicate to the stall people to order food. 11) I requested for a little help to get some hot water to continue our journey, Moris not only complained but offered no help at all. At the end, I got the hot water from a nearby hotel myself instead. 12) Moris excuse to me was: - he is not able to park his car, even when he has free parking at mother Armenia, and Khor Virap, he just stayed in his car. - he is not familiar with the tour and needed to use google map - he hasn’t been to Khor Virap before The reason guests pay more and get a private tour arrangement is so they can the flexibility and guide help along the way. (I am sure you will also feel the same if you are a paying customer…) I could have tipped Moris more (yes, I still tipped him because my parents raised me up right), but service was extremely poor. It’s very difficult to recommend this to my travelling friends.
