Brona will exibit many physical artifacts, plus maps & photos, learn about the rich local history how people lived and worked ,listen to the real story of the famine and the tragedy it caused locally in Mayo , learn about Famous Grace O'Malley the 16 century chieftain, known as the pirate queen and her exploits on the seas of west of Ireland , her daring visit to queen Elizabeth of England in London all this and more.
A short cycle down to the headland know as the POINT where you are right out on Clew bay , a fantastic place for photos with Croagh Patrick mountain and ClewBay islands in the back ground

5.00Myself and the group went with Brian the tour guide on a lovely day in November on our e bike down to the heritage centre where Brona the local historan brought us back in time..Brian was a great guide fantastic stories about pirate queen Grace O Malley..Highly recommended

5.00Myself and friends went on the 3 hr guided tour with Brian on ebikes which was fantastic full of stories legends and local history. The legends around the pirate queen were unbelievable the presentation by Brona in heritage centre was very informative I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Westport

5.00I went on the Westport guided tour with Brian by ebike. Brian was great Over the 3 hr tour we learned alot about the area in the past in particular the story of the. 16 century pirate queen grace omalley was amazing also the Heritage Center was so amazing All in all a must do tour when in westport highly recommend

5.00I went with my family from Canada on the heritage trail tour with Brian this was a great experience we had no idea that there was so much history over the centuries the visit to the heritage center was super the guide Brona gave a cool talk on the legends and stories of the pirates queen grace O’Malley and her exploits in past especially her visit to release hostages in London in 1580. This is a must do tour

5.00We went on a heritage bike tour led by Brian, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. Brian is a wonderful historian with an engaging storytelling style that brought Westport’s past to life. As we cycled through the beautiful grounds of Westport House, he shared fascinating insights about the area’s history and heritage. The tour included a stop at the Quayside Gallery, which showcased a lovely range of work from talented local artists and craftspeople. We also visited the Westport Heritage Centre, where Brian continued to share his deep knowledge and passion for Irish history. The experience was perfectly rounded off with a beautiful afternoon tea by the fireside in McCarthy’s Bar, complete with homemade scones and delicious treats baked by Elke. It was a warm and friendly way to end the day, with our group enjoying great discussions about the tour and the stories we’d heard. Overall, it was a delightful blend of history, culture, and hospitality — highly recommended for anyone visiting Westport!

5.00Had an excellent morning trip through the grounds of the beautiful Westport House estate where we were regaled with stories about the history and previous occupant’s of the house. We then proceeded to the Westport Heritage Centre and had an interesting talk from one of the curators . There are many interesting objects and artefacts to view in this museum. The tour then proceeded along the beautiful greenway where we visited the memorial site to the victims of the old Union workhouse. A wonderful an enlightening experience. Highly recommend.

5.00Went on the Westport Heritage Tour with Brian Meehan with people I knew and new friends made with shared interests .Brian was always engaging and interesting ,his extensive knowledge of built , cultural and natural heritage made for a very interesting day and I’d even like to go again , a brilliant afternoon had by all .

5.00Brian was the best local tour guide on our e-bike tour that we could have asked for. He was so knowledgeable about Westport and Clew Bay. It was so fun. His knowledge around Westport House made it even better.
