The tour includes a visit to one of the city’s finest purveyors of artisan products, sweet delights at a city highlight and world class ice cream. We conclude the tour relaxing with a local wine or beer sampling. If you’ve had a jet set morning or arrived in the city first thing, the Auckland in the Afternoon tour is the perfect way to enjoy a few hours, relaxed and tasty! You’ll be surprised at how much yumminess can be packed in between 2.30pm and 5.30pm.

5.00A very interesting culinary experience with elements of New Zealand's economic and history. For those planning a short stay in Auckland, it offers the opportunity to explore the diversity of local cuisine, and for those staying longer, it offers some ideas for further exploration of local flavors. I highly recommend this adventure.

5.00We’ve done food tours all over the world, and the Flavours of Our City tour with Big Foody Food Tours easily ranks as one of our favorites. Our guide, Laura, was outstanding. She struck that perfect balance of being knowledgeable and engaging without ever making the tour feel scripted or rushed. You can tell she genuinely loves Auckland and its food scene, and that energy carried through the entire experience. The pacing of this tour is what really sets it apart. We visited a great mix of spots around the Auckland CBD, trying everything from incredibly fresh local seafood to elevated takes on New Zealand classics, plus a simple but excellent cheese plate and some truly standout gelato at the end. Every stop felt intentional, and nothing felt like filler. One thing we really appreciated was the portioning. It’s very easy for food tours to go overboard, but this one was thoughtfully designed. We left satisfied, not stuffed, which made it much more enjoyable and actually gave us room to go back and revisit a few places later in our trip. Beyond the food, this tour gave us a much better sense of the city itself. We walked away with a list of restaurants we were excited to return to and a better understanding of how Auckland’s food scene reflects its culture and diversity. If you’re spending any time in Auckland, this is absolutely worth doing early in your trip. It’s a great introduction to the city, and Laura makes it even better.

5.00Very fun experience. One of the better food tours - we sampled enough to keep us from eating dinner - 5 places -some of which were 1 and 2 hat restaurants (New Zealand uses hats instead of stars - so these were very good). Great tour guide very fun. Recommended highly

5.00We had a great tour with Alex. She was very friendly and knowledgeable about all things food and Auckland. We tried lots of delicious food. The dumplings were so tasty that we had to go back for some more later on! A good selection of food and a good amount to try. I highly recommend the trip, especially with Alex!

5.00What an amazing tour. Started with a cheese tasting of local artisan cheeses at Hotel DeBrett, then the BEST dumplings ever from Eden Noodles, oysters and green lipped mussels from Shucker Brothers, modern takes on fish and chips and meat pies at Lodge then finished off with sweet ice cream at Miann. Our tour guide Alex was entertaining and knowledgeable providing stories about each location. This tour is a celebration of food, locally sourced ingredients and small businesses. Alex shared insights into the city, its history and architecture as well. This is a “must do” in Auckland.
Not worth it. Over priced, didn't live up to the description.

3.00First the positive. The tour guide was nice, knowledgeable of the area and the history. That's where the positiveness ends. The description didn't match the experience. It read "food and drink samples are included so you won't pay extra." Would explain the price right? Wrong. We got only 1/3 of a glass of wine at the first place. No other drinks at any of the other 4 stops. We had to pay a lot extra to have any drinks. And the food didn't make up for it. The first stop was 1 oyster and 2 mussels. The second was in a food court... 3 dumplings. The third stop was a little cheese split amongst the group. The fourth stop was the most interesting... Three small bites at an Indian spot. And then a scoop of ice cream. Would you pay $130 USD per person for that? It was good but not amazing and certainly wouldn't call it the hidden gems either. We've done food tours a lot via Viator on our travels. This was the only one we really felt cheated. Oh, and the kicker, they said they have been "trying to change the description" but having issues. Wouldn't recommend.

5.00My favorite food walking tour! I’ve always enjoyed these type of tours, especially when it’s unfamiliar territory. This was my fourth one - Little Havana in Miami, Dublin, and Singapore were the others - and while they were all great, this was some of the best food that I’ve had. I was completely blown away by the food scene in Auckland. I didn’t have a bad meal while I was there, but the tour was definitely eye opening. A variety of food along the five stops, and some very inventive cuisine that hits all the marks. Plus I learned a lot about Auckland, which I knew nothing about. And Sarah, our guide was great. It felt more like an afternoon out with friends than a tour, and she really did a great job of sharing insights and the history of the city.
