Most tours of the Freedom Trail are partial tours, skipping sections to save time. This tours will take you from start to finish -- with a focus on the people and events that propelled peaceful Puritans into revolutionaries willing to give their lives to separate themselves from Great Britain. If you want the complete story, including visiting Bunker Hill and the USS Constitution, this is your tour!
FAQs!
How long is the tour? It takes about four hours.
Are there restrooms? Yes, of course. There are four, and we always stop when someone requests a break.
What should I carry? A large water! Camera and hat, and be sure to check the forecast and dress accordingly. Adults bring your ID. You may also want to bring a snack to enjoy as you walk.
How do we get back to downtown? There are two main ways: walk or take a ferry to Long Wharf.
Is this a good tour for children? Kids who are at least 12 years old usually enjoy the tour. The tour is not recommended for younger children.

Massachusetts State House
You'll see all three buildings used as the seat of Massachusetts government. This is the current State House, designed by the father of Federal Architecture, Charles Bulfinch.
Park Street Church
At the time it was built, the church was the tallest building in the country. It's history is tied to the Abolition Movement and was know at "Brimstone Corner" both for the fiery sermons and a surprise of what was once stored in the cellar!

5.00It is long - 4 hours - but does the whole Freedom Trail and is tiring but definitely worth it. Mark was an amazing guide!! Very knowledgeable. We think we know the history of our country but there is so much more we don’t know. We really enjoyed this tour

5.00Mark was amazing!! Yes it’s a long tour - 4 hours- but it covered the entire Freedom Trail. Mark was very knowledgeable. So glad we didn’t get one of those ‘character’ tours - they were very loud and didn’t cover the entire Trail. Mark had a couple of visual aids that were informative. It was nice to end at Old Ironsides because we’d been wanting to go there. We definitely recommend this tour

5.00Mark is exceptional in both his knowledge, as well as doing the extras. Such as trying to gather us up in the shade ( whenever possible ) , finding a few places to sit along the way of the wonderful 4 hour tour,, bringing extra water/umbrella for those who may need it, erc.. Also, whenever possible he would stop in areas away from other groups ( imagine to be respectful, and to allow us to better be able to hear what he had to share ). And he does not accept tips, very rare niw a days. His enthusiasm for wanting to share his love of history & it so evident. Just a suggestion for tips…possibly accept tgem, when offered, and donate the $ to a worthy cause? Thank you Mark, Cheryl B Florida

5.00Our guide, Mark, gave our group an excellent picture of what happened in the wars fought to gain our freedom. He had old maps of what Boston and Charlottetown looked liked during that time to help us understand. Highly recommend! You will take many steps but your guide will show you actual places where massacres occurred. The USS Constitution was amazing ❤️

5.00A 5+ tour for sure; if I could rate it higher, I would! I’ve been on vacation for 2 weeks and have done a lot of guided tours, and Mark’s style is the best by far. He knows his history and brings it to life in Boston! A word to the wise, I got 12,000 steps in on this tour, and it is on uneven Boston sidewalks with hills. You will need comfortable shoes, and water. A hat and sunglasses were helpful to me, too. The 4-hour tour was comprehensive and well-worth it!
